The Radical Agreement Project Connects Improvisers Worldwide

By: Nic Abelian

The Radical Agreement Project, an online improv comedy hub founded by Terry Withers in 2020, has quickly established itself as a unique and impactful platform in the world of improvisational theater. Offering daily free workshops over Zoom, as well as a variety of multi-session classes and improv-based professional development workshops, the project has garnered international appeal, attracting students from across the globe.

What sets the Radical Agreement Project apart from its competition is the in-depth training it offers, which is equivalent to what one might find in major entertainment cities like New York City or Los Angeles. Despite its virtual nature, the project has managed to replicate the intensity and quality of in-person training, making top-tier improv education accessible to individuals no matter where they are located.

The international reach of the Radical Agreement Project is a testament to its success and the universal appeal of improv. Students from the USA, Canada, Mexico, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, India, and many other countries regularly participate in the classes. This diverse student body has fostered a vibrant and dynamic community, enriching the learning experience with varied perspectives and cultural backgrounds.

Terry Withers, the founder of the Radical Agreement Project, expressed his excitement about the global reach of his initiative. “I was so excited when I got my first international students signing up for classes with RA (Radical Agreement). That was in the Fall of 2020 when an accountant from London started attending sessions. Now it is routine for me to have students in the same class from all over the world,” Withers shared. His enthusiasm reflects the project’s mission to bring people together through the art of improv, transcending geographical boundaries.

The global nature of the Radical Agreement Project has enriched Withers’ own experiences as an artist. “It has been great for me as an artist to meet so many new people with so many new perspectives on the application and value of improv. I’ve had the chance to perform with some online and, once or twice, in person! I went to do a college show in Wisconsin, and one of my students joined the cast. It was an absolute blast performing with someone I only knew from online sessions,” he explained.

The Radical Agreement Project not only provides top-tier training but also creates opportunities for real-world connections and performances, bridging the gap between virtual and in-person improv. This blend of high-quality education and global community building makes the project a standout in the world of improv.

As the Radical Agreement Project continues to grow, it remains dedicated to fostering a global community of improvisers who can learn, perform, and connect from anywhere in the world. The project’s commitment to making improv accessible and its success in building an international network of students and performers highlight its significant impact on the global improv scene.

Besides offering online improv training, The Radical Agreement Project also tours the US with shows like Paranormal Comedy and The Terry Withers Mysteries.
