The Bay Area has long been a fertile ground for musical innovation, and a new genre is rising from its vibrant cultural soil: RnBay. At the forefront of this movement are The Brodies, a trio consisting of CRSB’s Sonny B. and Chris Ramos, alongside platinum artist Adrian Marcel. Together, they have crafted a sound that blends the timeless elements of R&B with the raw energy of Bay Area hyphy culture, setting the stage for a musical revolution. The genre they’ve birthed, RnBay, is gaining momentum, ready to captivate audiences far beyond the Bay’s borders.
The Birth of RnBay
RnBay is not just a genre—it’s a fusion of sounds, cultures, and experiences unique to the Bay Area. This musical style encapsulates the familiar yet fresh sounds of traditional R&B while infusing the high-energy, bass-heavy pulse of hyphy. At its core, RnBay mirrors the Bay’s identity—a place where different cultures converge, creating something new, edgy, and authentic.

Sonny B. and Chris Ramos, the creative minds behind CRSB, have spent over a decade honing their craft. Known for hits like “You & I,” “The Breakup Song,” and “Give It Up,” the Vallejo natives built a loyal, multigenerational fanbase with their innovative blend of ukulele-driven melodies and contemporary beats. CRSB’s ability to incorporate island rhythms into modern music laid the groundwork for what would eventually become RnBay.
In 2020, CRSB joined forces with Adrian Marcel, the soulful R&B savant from East Oakland. Marcel, best known for his hit single “2 AM,” which amassed over 93 million views on YouTube and climbed high on the Billboard charts, brought a sultry, hypnotic vocal style to the collaboration. Together, they began producing a new kind of music that mixed their island influences with the rhythm of the Bay’s hyphy scene. Over 100 tracks later, the result is a genre reflective of the Bay Area’s diverse cultural landscape.
“RnBay is a new genre created from the soil and roots of the Bay Area. Nowhere else can you get a blend of traditional R&B and hyphy culture, elevated all in one and blended so perfectly,” The Brodies explained. “It’s quality, edgy, and relatable music. A sound that is from the Bay but for the world.”

The Brodies: A Cultural Melting Pot
The Bay Area’s music scene has always reflected its cultural diversity, and The Brodies embody this spirit in every sense. With their familial roots extending to the Islands, CRSB’s Sonny B. and Chris Ramos fuse reggae and roots-rock-island vibes with the hip-hop beats and hyphy sounds that characterize their home turf. With his smooth R&B delivery, Adrian Marcel adds a layer of sophistication to the mix, resulting in music that feels both nostalgic and entirely new.
RnBay is not just about the music, though. It represents the unity and shared experiences of people growing up in the Bay Area, where cultures, genres, and influences blend freely. This is why The Brodies’ music feels so authentic—it’s a true reflection of the cultural melting pot they come from.
Their sound resonates with listeners across generations, offering a new take on R&B that’s relevant and rooted in the Bay. As they continue to release new music under the RnBay banner, their work is poised to reach even broader audiences, tapping into the Bay Area’s rich musical heritage while crafting a unique future.
Looking to the Future

The Brodies are not content with staying confined within the Bay Area. With new singles dropping this November, including Adrian Marcel’s “Slide” and CRSB’s “VACAY” featuring Adrian Marcel, they’re gearing up for something bigger. A full RnBay SZN album is slated for release in February 2025, promising more of the boundary-pushing sound that fans have come to love.
Looking ahead, The Brodies are eyeing the global stage. A potential collaboration with Alegre De Pilipinas International Branding Company and Jewels Empire Entertainment would allow them to take their music to new heights, blending fashion, music, and culture in an authentic and innovative way.
For The Brodies, this is about more than just music. It’s about representation. As Filipino American artists, they’re passionate about showcasing their culture to the world while also representing the Bay Area’s iconic hyphy movement. “When we first started creating the genre, it was at the front of our plans to push this sound internationally and be a representation for not only our soil but our culture and other cultures worldwide,” they shared.
The future is bright for The Brodies and their RnBay sound. The world is taking notice as they continue to develop their unique blend of R&B, hyphy, and island vibes. Their ability to fuse these elements into a cohesive and captivating sound sets them apart in a crowded musical landscape. A worldwide tour seems inevitable, as their music is poised to resonate with audiences far beyond the Bay.
With a blend of authenticity, innovation, and cultural pride, The Brodies are on the verge of something big. RnBay is more than a genre—it’s a movement, and The Brodies are leading the charge.
