There is little that is more discouraging to an athlete’s career than dealing with injury and the setbacks they come with, like twin shackles weighing heavily on the feet while they drag on towards the slow path of recovery. Atlanta Cricketer Suneel Kumar had his fair share of injuries in the past few years, but the man refuses to be brought down by these setbacks, choosing instead to come back stronger every time and taking audiences with him through every step of his incredible journey.
Suneel’s career in professional cricket brought him all the way to the USA Men’s 30-man National Training Camp during the 2017-2018 season. But crippled by injuries, Suneel took his time to recover and made a return in the 2021 season, playing professionally in minor league cricket for the Florida Beamers.
Misfortune struck him again when that season was cut short by an unfortunate vehicle accident that left him with a broken hand. Patient and determined, Suneel once again made recovering a priority, leading to a remarkable return in 2022 with strong performances in the US Premier League. His impressive comeback garnered attention and earned him a call-up to the Global Power Cricket League based in India.
Suneel shows no sign of slowing down. During the Atlanta GA Cricket Conference on October 23rd, he stole the show playing for Atlanta Thunder with a whopping 103 not-out in just 46 balls against Atlanta Heat, including 11 fours and six sixes.
Creative, driven, and a trendsetter, Suneel not only plans to return soon to the USA Men’s National Training Camp but is also setting his eyes on uncharted waters – the world of digital media and content creation.
With no active cricketer having yet carved out a corner for vlog-style cricket content on YouTube, Suneel took on the challenge of pioneering on the platform with the creation of his channel and premiering his vlog series, aiming to shine a spotlight on the sport and his personal journey as a cricket athlete.
“I believe in this digital age, where competition is so much more than for previous generations, we as athletes have to do whatever we can to get ourselves in front of as many eyes as possible,” he shared. “Performances don’t matter if nobody is taking note of them.”
Suneel’s story of resilience, hard work, and never giving up is already one that many can look up to and take inspiration from – but it has only just begun. He will take audiences along for the ride as he takes his time in reaching the top.
“I would like to share my message with the readers and let them into who I am as a person. That person is a dreamer, and I want the dreamers of the world to know they can make their dreams come true through hard work and perseverance. You just have to stand the test of time.”
