When planning a party to celebrate major milestones in a friend’s life, there are many options to consider. Perhaps a night out on the town or a spa day? While these options are common for the typical bachelorette party, what about those who want to kick things up a notch and do something a bit daring and different, like hitting the high seas on a yacht?

Once party fodder for the well-heeled only, well-known boat and yacht rental company SamBoat is making even the most high-end boats available to just about anyone. A global leader in the boat rental space, SamBoat’s mission is to give more people the opportunity to enjoy a day out at sea.

It’s all about the experience

A memorable bachelorette party has to include several factors: great friends, good food and drink options, and an incredible experience. A day bobbing on the waves in a luxury yacht, catamaran, or sailboat could be just that experience — one that is sure to earn high praise from the guest of honor.

SamBoat has been leading the boat and yacht rental game for the past decade. Heralded as the “Airbnb for Boats,” the company started by offering everyone from novices to experienced skippers the chance to have the sea-faring time of their lives. With over 50,000 boats available worldwide, a boating bachelorette party can be an option almost anywhere you may be.

Robert Harrington, US Country Manager for SamBoat, remarks on the variety of fun options for activities that can be had with a boat-centered party plan.“If you’re planning a full day, you’ll probably be able to cruise to several different places, jump in the water, and enjoy all kinds of activities on the boat. If you’re planning an afternoon or evening cruise, there really isn’t anything better than seeing a sunset on the water,” he says.

Bachelorettes — on a boat!

There’s a reason why SNL parodied how excellent being on a boat is with “I’m on a Boat!”. There’s also a reason why countless music videos have been filmed riding the waves on a luxury yacht. After all, being on a boat is endlessly cool and just plain fun.

To start planning the most epic boat party, the guest list must be thoughtful and of a particular size. This is not the time to invite 100 or more of the bride’s acquaintances. Instead, keep it intimate and to the letter of the law.

“The Coast Guard is very strict when it comes to the number of guests onboard throughout the United States,” says Harrington. “The maximum number of guests is strictly enforced.” Typically, that number of guests cannot exceed 12.

Choosing the right boat is essential as well. You’re probably not going to consider a bunch of fishing boats — unless, of course, an afternoon of deep-sea fishing is your thing. But, if you’re looking to pull off a more class affair, you can consider a catamaran, luxury yacht, or even a sailboat. SamBoat renters can choose from a variety of boat types and even choose to have a Captain along to be at the helm.

“If you’re looking for lots of space, I recommend a flybridge yacht. If you’re looking for a more upbeat experience, I would recommend an express cruiser, as they can go faster while out on the water. Each boat will provide you with a different experience,” explains Harrington. The prices are relatively inexpensive for the experience, which can be a consideration when paying for everything that goes along with being a bridesmaid or maid of honor in a wedding.

Feel free to really dive into the boat theme (pun intended) with sailing or ocean-related food and drinks. Encourage the ladies (or gents) at the Bachelorette party to go all out with swimwear or nautical-themed outfits, but don’t forget to encourage hats, sunglasses, and, of course, sunscreen. For the ultimate party atmosphere, many of the boats rented out are equipped with Bluetooth stereo systems, so it’s a great time to put together a “Yacht Rock” playlist so you can truly set the “Party Boat” mood.

A Bachelorette they’ll never forget

Bachelorette parties are the most popular pre-wedding event. According to studies, up to 78% of couples have one. These parties can be as simple or elaborate as the bridal party can conjure.

Boat rental is also growing in popularity, with the global market poised to reach $10 billion by 2027. Boat rental leader SamBoat has made the whole idea of parties on the water affordable and accessible, even if you’ve never been on a boat before.

The time surrounding a wedding is a peak time for memory-making. Creating an epic party on a rented boat almost guarantees incredible memories for the bride and all of her closest friends. The memory-making potential is what it’s all about for Harrington. “At the end of the day, the only thing that will stay with you for a lifetime are your memories, and there’s no better way to create memories than on the water.”
