The gaming industry continually gained momentum amid the pandemic. With people stuck at home, video games provided comfort in these trying times. On a mission to put smiles on people’s faces, gaming streamer Mohamad Masri, better known for his moniker Smush, relentlessly provides followers with engaging and entertaining content regularly through social media. 

Smush was born in Syria, but he immigrated to the United States with his family at a young age. After the change in his environment, the young gamer found comfort in video games, which he would play with his friends for many years. To independently support himself and his studies, Smush had a 9-to-5 job while attending high school. “I tried to go to college, and that just didn’t go well for me because it was expensive, and I could not afford it,” said the streamer. 

Despite his failed attempts to obtain higher education, Smush knew that there was still a way for him to make a difference. Eventually, he found himself streaming on Facebook Gaming. After one year, he became an official partner of the platform, catering to a community of over 114,000 followers who enjoy his unique take on gaming. Smush feels grateful for the opportunity to have his passion as his full-time job, a privilege that is not given to everyone. 

Furthermore, Smush is also a self-taught game developer. He learned FiveM coding to create and develop his own games and share his vision with other gamers in the industry. Currently, the gamer has created a game server enjoyed and utilized by over 3,000 players across the globe.

Additionally, Smush was even more determined to gather a community of gamers and spread positivity when he realized how the pandemic affected the industry. COVID-19 has taken a toll on the emotional and mental health of gamers worldwide, and Smush wants to continue doing his part to encourage gaming enthusiasts like himself to continue their journey. Seeing how his streams lift sadness and bad vibes from his viewers brings him fulfillment and drives him to become the best streamer possible. 

“My community gets along with each other well; they have become a family that talks in my chat and they are from all over the world,” said Smush. “I have very enjoyable and hilarious moments in my stream, and I connect with my community in a very special way,” he added.

Asked what initially fueled his passion for streaming games, Smush shared that he wanted to create the same influence other streamers have on their viewers. Like his audiences, the streamer was also a fan of various content creators. Today, he is no longer on the receiving end of the line but is the one providing the message to aspiring gamers who also want to carve their paths in the industry.

Smush pushes people to nurture their love for gaming and grow with a community of like-minded individuals every day. He also aspires to mentor gamers one-on-one in the future and share industry tips that helped him boost his career.
