Reggae rhythms have always been cherished because of the boundless artistic freedom they give to the singer and songwriter. In Latin music, Altur Santos is becoming a sought-after name that resonates with passion and talent. Born Robert Alturo Mejia Santos in the Dominican Republic, this reggaeton singer and songwriter has embraced the limelight by blending his Dominican roots with influences from Canada and Colombia. His remarkable journey is inspiring for aspiring artists in the industry. 

Altur Santos was raised in an environment surrounded by music in San Pedro De Macoris, as his family was deeply rooted in musical traditions. Raised by his mother Ana Gil Cesarina Rivas, hailing from Santiago Rodriguez, Dominican Republic, Altur was inspired by her trumpet melodies at a young age. With three younger brothers, who eventually became musicians, music was no longer just a hobby but a way of life in the Santos family. 

Altur began his musical journey at the tender age of 11 when he picked up his first instrument. His fascination with music motivated him to explore various genres. However, it was in the rhythms of reggaeton that he discovered his true calling. Fueled by his passion for production and a gifted talent for composition, Altur set out on a path to become a professional artist. 

At the young age of 15, Altur found his breakthrough moment when he got the opportunity to perform saxophone in front of a captivated audience of 300 people at a resort in Punta Cana. The energy of the crowd felt electrifying, and soon after the performance, he realized that music was his destiny. Despite facing numerous challenges along the way, such as the untimely passing of his mother and the responsibility of his younger brothers, Altur remained steadfast in his goal to pursue music as a career. It was this passion that became his guiding light through these challenges. 

Altur’s natural talent on the saxophone earned him recognition as one of the most sought-after players in the Dominican Republic. He started collaborating with prominent artists such as Amarfis, Omega, and Sin Fronteras, showcasing his versatility and musical prowess. Ultimately, it was his transition to a solo reggaeton artist, songwriter, and producer that helped him stand out from the crowd. 

Altur Santos has solidified his position in the realm of popular music with his unparalleled ability to seamlessly navigate various genres, from bachata to dembow and pop to afro beats. For Altur, true artistry lies not only in what he creates but in his genuine love for the art. He works hard to push the boundaries with each note and rhythm he creates to consistently evolve as an artist in the vibrant Latin music industry. 

Meeting his childhood idols and collaborating with artists he always looked up to have been some of the greatest accomplishments in his career so far.
