Almost a year after his self-produced and self-written single “Let It Happen” landed number 13 on New Zealand’s Hot 20 chart, rising artist Denel is ready to take on new heights with his latest masterpiece, “Make It Right.” Released last June, the single showcases Denel’s journey as an artist and the evolution of his style. It perfectly portrays and illustrates where the artist has been and where he aims to take his music. “Make It Right” is Denel’s first installation for his upcoming EP entitled “Crossroads.”
Denel was born in South Africa but raised in New Zealand. Honing his passion for music over the years, he has evolved into one of the most talented and promising singers, songwriters, and producers of his generation. On a mission to deliver something his global listeners have never heard before, Denel explores and pushes the boundaries of his chosen genre. “Make It Right” is the beginning of a new direction Denel is ready to take, and it will surely open new doors for his music career.
“Make It Right” deviates from Denel’s joyful and upbeat tunes and showcases a new side of his musical artistry. The single is an exploration of the depth of his abilities and his vision to deliver a fresh take on R&B. While his audiences have grown familiar with his happy tracks, Denel is ready to take them on a new journey with soulful lyrics, a darker take on R&B, and urban undertones. He pushes the boundaries of the genre and claims it as his own.
“I really want to showcase a more mature side of my music and get a little bit deeper content-wise. I think most of us are at a ‘crossroad,’ so to speak, with all we’ve been through the last couple of years. It would be great to use music in a positive way to inspire people to think deeper and make music that resonates and connects with certain emotions,” Denel said. “I’m also really excited about dropping some self-produced tracks as well and really showcase that side of me a little bit more,” he added further.
“Make It Right” was produced by the genius producer EDY, who is no stranger to the R&B genre, especially in New Zealand and Australia. Denel wanted to prove to his listeners that his music could not be confined to a box, and “Make It Right” is the latest manifestation of his growth as an artist. In addition, the musician also created a music video for the song together with director Alex Hargreaves and the video team Video Buzz. The video was released three days after the single dropped on the 3rd of June.
Denel aims to inspire and empower people with his music by giving them something they can relate to. His lyrics for “Make It Right” demonstrates his lyrical artistry and push them to think beyond the tunes. Behind his melody is a profound message, and he wants to take his audience on a journey. It’s a masterpiece that resonates with emotions, and without a doubt, it will be as successful, or even more, as his first hit.
