ReelwUrld In-Action for the Future of the Film Industry

NY Weekly Contributor
  • September 21, 2022

Jan Lucanus is an award-winning Transmedia Producer, Director, and Action Choreographer focused on creating cinema with community participation. A 2nd generation storyteller and 3X martial arts world champion, Jan grew up in NYC surrounded by his parents’ Kung Fu & Tai Chi masters, while his comic book writer father would bring him to Marvel’s offices. Jan compares the subtle awareness honed in martial training to understanding how cinema impacts culture, and he’s using that insight to build ReelwUrld — the world’s first cinematic social network.

ReelwUrld, is a cinematic social network where everything you post is part of a movie or show. People from all across the globe unite to make movies/TV shows together right from their mobile devices, such as smartphones, iPhones and Android Phones.

“I get to work with amazing humans across the world, from the global cast of our first community-produced show, Justice For Hire, to my cofounders Autumn Noel Kelly and Andra Roxana Stanciu, to our advisors like Starlight Runner’s Jeff Gomez, and our investor community on Wefunder that includes folks like Legion M president Jeff Annison.” – Jan Lucanus explains to us.

Additionally, Jan Lucanus also drives Uber and has now been using this as a method to get the word around about ReelwUrld. Their first show JFH was in May 2022. Since Jan was in film school at NYU, he has also been running a media production company called Creative Impulse Entertainment since I was in film school at NYU.

ReelwUrld has an equity crowdfunding campaign (wefunder.com/reelwurld) welcoming everyone to join their movement and help build a new global film & TV industry where audiences are also the stars, producers, and directors of the stories we love. We asked Jan what that may mean – “Anyone can invest and own a piece of our company and our patent-pending technology – a social network with guidance. Every time you post a video, you receive directions on how to perform, place the camera, and connect your story to other people’s stories. We’ve already proven our model works with 7.5 million views on our first show, and anyone can join the cast and be part of it from JusticeForHire.com.” – Jan Lucanus elaborates.

These are ReelwUrld’s top achievements and what they are known for –

– 7.5 million views on its first episode

– 500+ cast members worldwide (one of the largest casts of any show)

– 100+ hours of content created with our community

– 4X Award Winner at WarnerMedia’s Urban Action Showcase

Here are some direct words from Jan Lucanus and his thoughts about the film industry’s future.

“The whole world is in film school right now. People are learning to communicate visually; what worked two years ago is considered out of style today. There is a cultural desire to share and learn; that is incredibly refreshing. I love watching the growth in popularity of LinkedIn over the last year and the exchange of expertise that’s increasingly happening on their platform, catalyzed in part by the rapid learning that’s happening on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube.

For the future of global film and TV, we will see a rise in “social filmmaking .”Social media behaviors and traditional production practices will merge, and many companies will arise to do what we’re already doing at ReelwUrld. While we’re not a “web3” company yet but will be soon, many communities are already mobilized to decentralize and democratize legacy media. I love looking at trends in culture and behavioral chains. Those chains link to destinations that can be mapped out for years if you can see the patterns. From what I see, the human race is in for a beautiful future of collaboration, mutual care, love, and respect for each other and our planet. The road there has its challenges, but we will prevail, and the shift in media that ReelwUrld is helping to pioneer is key to this future.” – Jan Lucanus.

A company’s biggest challenge is finding the right people to work and build with. Whether that’s investors, production partners, etc. That has been the case for ReelwUrld. But Jan has come far and has magnetized the right people for the company. Many investors ask, “what’s the 5-year success percentage?”. We believe it’s 100% that ReelwUrld will be one of, if not, the most prominent social film studios the world may ever see. We believe Jan Lucanus will stand on the front lines, making movies, and shows with global communities and uniting people in ways they’ve always dreamt of.
