From the quaint town of Cremona, Italy, Matteo Della Putta set sail on his extraordinary acting voyage with “VarieAzioni,” a renowned theater group. His debut performance in “Ladadika” — a deeply touching enactment of the atrocities inflicted by the Nazi regime — made waves locally, selling out the theater and creating a buzz in the local press.
Passionate about creativity and cultural exploration, Matteo shone in the role of Heamon in a theatrical rendition of the Greek myth “Antigone.” The critics couldn’t help but notice his captivating performance, showering him with praises and providing him the opportunity to debut in a short film.
Impressed by Matteo’s powerful stage persona, emerging director Andrea Negroni offered him a part in an avant-garde short film project. The filming took place during the summer of 2019 in Italy. The project was not just experimental; it was a chance for Matteo to exhibit his comedic talent through a series of humorous sketches and vignettes at the Teatro Filodrammatici in Cremona, resulting in an audience swept away in laughter.
Following a few years of honing his craft at AADA and graduating in 2022, Matteo felt ready to undertake a new journey in a foreign land. He ventured into the U.S. entertainment industry, steadily building a portfolio that eventually consolidated his reputation and launched his career forward.
Matteo’s versatile portfolio comprises stage plays, short films, a feature film, and even a music video. One of his most beloved projects includes an adaptation of “Much Ado About Nothing,” which featured original music composed exclusively for the one-night performance.
Matteo’s first foray into the realm of cinema began with impactful roles in short films, one of which was the moving film “Unbearable.” This film, directed by Belgian filmmaker Benjamin Van Den Berghe, delves into the harsh reality of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and the trauma linked to abusive households.
Emphasizing the significance of mental health, Matteo took part in the short film “Letargia,” a powerful depiction of depression’s insidious nature directed by Brazilian actress and debut director Malu Graciano. This deeply impactful short film is currently being showcased at festivals across the U.S. and has been proposed to various streaming platforms, offering Matteo immense satisfaction.
Maintaining his commitment to conveying significant messages, Matteo has also branched out into different genres, with a thrilling performance in “The Elysian” and an upcoming role in the horror short “Noise.”
Expanding his horizons further, Matteo’s latest foray is into the domain of feature films with a role in “Arena,” part of the Bok Universe Franchise. Here, Matteo takes on the persona of an eccentric professor in this sci-fi/action flick, demonstrating his ability to handle complex, technical dialogues while maintaining high drama and tension.
Continuing his journey of exploration, Matteo recently dipped his toes into a music video project, taking on the role of a surgeon in rapper Tfemi’s song “Emergency.” This experience allowed Matteo to explore a new facet of his versatility as an actor, once again highlighting his ability to adapt to diverse artistic formats.
