The Origins of a Powerful Collaboration
The collaboration between Leroy Aka Lbee and A Boogie Wit da Hoodie didn’t happen overnight. In fact, it traces back to an unexpected connection with Myster Whyte, who was also an MMA fighter. Leroy met Myster Whyte while working on the movie Outside Cage with Phil Daru which Leroy was producing and directing, and Myster kept mentioning a young artist he wanted Leroy to meet. Little did he know, that artist was none other than A Boogie Wit da Hoodie.
From the moment Leroy heard A Boogie freestyle, he knew they had something special. “I knew already I wanted to work with him,” Leroy recalls. That initial spark led to the creation of “Let’s Get It.” A Boogie was supposed to work on the album during that time too. That song was actually for their album, and it was featured on Leroy’s mixtape ‘Ego Trippin’.
Studio Vibes and Creative Process
The making of “Let’s Get It” was anything but ordinary. Leroy describes it as a competitive process, where both artists were put in a position to push each other to their limits. “The studio session had a competitive edge, pushing both of us to bring our best,” he explains. “But I’m not gonna lie, he helped me step my game up, but it was dope.”
The track itself came together in an organic yet unexpected way. Leroy and A Boogie originally weren’t feeling the beat, but since it was a free beat, they decided to make it work. “We just went to the studio in his house in Florida—he did the hook, I did the adlibs,” Leroy says. What resulted was an electrifying anthem that resonates with listeners facing struggles and setbacks.
Turning Pain into Music
At its core, “Let’s Get It” is more than just a banger—it’s an emotional release. Leroy reveals that both he and A Boogie were going through personal hardships at the time. “We both got our hearts broken by some women, and we were just trying to use our potential to get over that and make money,” he shares.
This raw emotion is what gives “Let’s Get It” its authenticity. Listeners can sense the hunger, drive, and passion in every bar.
