Kat Alyst Reinventing the Artistic Wheel through Photography
Model: Blue Madrigal | Jewelry: Shalottlilly | Dress: Made in Heaven by Stephen Moser | Hair & Makeup: Missy Espelien | Art Sculpture by Adela Andea | Location: Anya Tish Gallery

Art comes to everyone differently, and for Kat Alyst, she is literally playing the role of a “catalyst” in bringing different art forms closer to people through photography. Her work does not only center on taking pictures; she is more of an artist than a photographer. Her style of photography involves creating a fictional world that transcends beyond the regular. According to her, she juxtaposes apathetic with passionate and fashionable with outright nonsensical narratives at times. She has a unique perspective that takes abstract elements and brings them to reality for her audience to experience.

Kat Alyst has carved a niche for herself in the photography world. Her brand is not about taking pictures; instead, it’s about creating moments. She has enjoyed the rare opportunity of getting featured in some top publications like Institute Magazine, Beautiful Decay Magazine, ART+DESIGN Magazine, Dark Beauty Magazine, Italian Vogue, Picton Magazine, LYUN Magazine, Beautymute Magazine, GMARO Magazine, Féroce Magazine, MOEVIR Magazine, and others across the globe.

She is passionate about collaborations and sharing creative ideas. And she goes to great lengths to bring those ideas to life. This explains why she is constantly on the move across the US and to different parts of the world (pre Covid-19). She thinks her job as a photographer and artist is not for her to only make a living and a name for herself. She believes that she can make a difference with her talents. Beyond projecting herself to the world through her work, she also supports various non profits over the years, independent artists– even speaking to high school classes to guide the future youth’s questions for creative careers. She helps where photography and graphic design are needed because she believes the world needs to be better, and she has to play her part.

On the qualities that set her apart from the competition, Kat Alyst believes it’s mostly her drive and determination. She pushes herself to deliver beyond expectations every time, and she refuses to buck under pressure. Her background has also played an important role in how she has evolved as a professional photographer and artist. In her words, she says, “I think a lot of photographers and artists are very determined people. This is not a relaxed field to be in, so you definitely have to love it — and I do.”

Kat Alyst is motivated by her desire to do something that she knows she can do forever. She never wanted the conventional career choices that many of her peers made when she was younger, and with her exposure to art magazines at a tender age, she developed an imaginative mind. Now, she just wants to share her mind with people through photography and art and make a living out of them.

In the next five years, Kat Alyst has set the goal of opening at least one photo studio and a sort of creative incubator where artists can come together to create things and get inspired. She also plans to put together art shows in respected gallery spaces. She cares about equality in the creative industry, and she hopes to be at the forefront of fighting for that. Her goal is to inspire and motivate everyone who comes in contact with her, and project good positivity everywhere she goes. You could say Kat Alyst is a dreamer, and as she lives her own reality, manifesting and working every moment of the day toward her goals. She wants other people to tap into their greatness and live their life to the fullest.
