John Michael Details His Music Journey Following the Release of His Debut Single “Bad Babe”

John Michael has always felt drawn towards music, having enjoyed a childhood littered with old records and contemporary music albums. However, it wasn’t until he watched the 2013 VMA’s that he realized that making music is not just for him to experience the thrill of singing and performing before an audience; instead, it is his calling.

John Michael was born and raised in North Little Rock, Arkansas; though he currently lives in Los Angeles, California, he has always been into music. He recalled his childhood romance with art, music and dance, having grown up watching his mother run her dance studio. By the time he was three years old, he had taken to the stage to dance and perform some of the dance routines created in the studio. He would spend the rest of his childhood perfecting his moves and, most importantly, develop a keener interest in music.

He describes his music journey and the development of his artistry as a progressive journey; growing up among different people and having the privilege of working with people with diverse set-skill made him realize how much he loved making music. All it took him was to write and record his first song, and since then, he hasn’t looked back.

Fresh from releasing his debut single “Bad Babe,” which went live on every digital streaming platform on September 24th, 2021, John Michael described the project as a pop-inspired track, taking notes and cues from the early 2000’s pop music and an incredible blend of hip-hop and R&B. “Bad Babe” is about when you’re out having fun. Then you meet someone, and then it becomes about you and them.” With Bad Babe, John Michael has created a unique and nostalgic feeling in a modern way, a track that connects both the old and the younger generations.

He has since followed the release of the Bad Babe single with a music video, a process which culminated in what he refers to as some of his proudest moments, “From writing, recording, choreography, and all creative aspects, I’ve had my hands in everything. This is my “baby.” He gushed.

John Michael has been described as persistent by fans and fellow artists who have worked with him. This stems from his commitment to music for its artistic value and because it connects people and can evoke emotions from listeners. Therefore, at the top of the bucket list is to push his latest single and promote it massively consistently. Music is an avenue for him to make people kick back, reminisce about great times and create new memories filled with enjoyment, vibes and fun.

John Michael enjoys his quiet time playing video games, basketball, working out, and dancing away from his music career. When asked what he does to stay creative, he said, “I don’t do anything special to stay creative. I think just having good music and being around other creative people is the key to my creativity.”
