Jakeem is many things rolled into one package. He is a photographer, online personality, actor, public relations expert, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker. But all his work comes together into a vision concretized by Jay Productions Agency, a company dedicated to delivering the best entertainment through their expertise. The company provides a whole array of services, including photobooths, printing, videography, digital marketing, media consultation, public relations, talent management, events coordination, and so many more.
Through the years, Jakeem and Jay Productions Agency has created a strong portfolio of clients that have become household names across the country and world. Some of the shows that Smith and his team have helped include “Real Housewives of Atlanta,” “Married To Medicine,” “R&B Divas,” and “Love and Hip Hop Atlanta,” to name a few. At the center of Jay Productions Agency’s success is the leadership and creativity of its founder Jakeem Smith. Born in Dover, Delaware, the entrepreneur and entertainment guru grew up with a desire to make a difference in people’s lives. He understood very early on that if he wanted to fulfill all Jakeem wanted to become, he would have to aim to be the best at everything he did. That desire and hunger for excellence would drive him to become the businessman and service provider he is today. As a result, he has created a strong reputation as a man who delivers at every turn.
Life wouldn’t be all rainbows and butterflies for Jakeem. On October 5, 2013, his mother suffered an Aneurysm, which rocked the entrepreneur to his core. “That experience pushed me harder not to give up,” shares Smith. “She always rooted for me, and I wanted to be able to help my mom and be able to be supportive of her how she was of me.”
It was his aunt S. Renee Smith-Larry who took him under her wing and gave him his first camera. She taught him everything he knew and the rest was history.
Jakeem first made it big as a professional photographer, covering various events featuring some top celebrities. That season would build his foundations in marketing and entertainment. Smith would also begin networking non-stop, creating connections with Dondria of So So Def, Nene Leakes, Terrance Howard, Jermaine Dupree, and many other renowned personalities. Later, Jakeem would widen his horizons and start strategic planning for businesses, brand development, social media marketing, videography, graphic design, and events production.
Today, Jakeem has a lot more projects to come as he has started working with clients like RL, Naturi Naughton, Eve, Brandy, Q Parker, Nicci Gilbert, and Deb Antney. In addition, he is also currently a segment producer for VH1 and has recently begun working on “My Celebrity Dream Wedding.”
