How Gregory Fields Jr. Turned His Passion for Music into Profession

“Music and rhythm find their way into the secret places of the soul.” These are words that seasoned and fashionable musician, and producer Gregory Fields Jr. lives by. Close to his 50s, G. Fields came a long way from playing his sax in his teens to becoming a music producer. Thirty years of running several companies in the industry taught him that the formula for success is not passion alone. The key is to enjoy and make your work enjoyable to the listeners.

Fields is an established and well-known professional in music. He is an executive, producer, artist, writer, actor, recording, and sound engineer. As an artist, he creates and composes records through various forms. This approach allows him to arrange and produce his sound independently. G. Fields’ eclectic method is the secret of how he managed and developed a network of A-List artists, actors, and producers in the industry.

But things were not handed to him on a silver spoon. He had humble beginnings, too, just like every successful person. G. Fields was born on March 2, 1971, in Chicago, but they eventually relocated to Mississippi with his five siblings. He began to take an interest in music, starting in elementary school. He played the saxophone in junior high along with the high school band. At an early age, he saw people perform on stage, in the streets, and on-screen. This exposure gave him an understanding of the audience. Once he got what interests the listeners, he discovered that he could perform and make people enjoy his music.

As an artist, he did not stop with the sax. In 1983, G. Fields also pursued his passion for hip-hop and became a hip-hop artist. But it was during the mid-80s to 90s when he decided to turn his passion into his career. He started producing his album, which landed him a single, “Malik’s Rhyme,” on the radio. In 1995, multi-national entertainment company Warner Bros. took notice of his talent and had him sign as part of their label. With this career breakthrough, G. Fields had the rare chance to work with some of the most prominent figures in the music industry.

From then on, his career just kept on growing. Three years following his signing to Warner Bros., G. Fields started his very own record label, Malik Records Inc. He established his recording studio in Huntington, NY. In 2003, the studio relocated to New Jersey into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility. He teamed up with several major artists and producers in the industry following this music studio revamp.

In 2009, Fields was introduced to Alvin Mays, CEO of AMS Management. Their partnership clicked as they later co-founded AMS Music Entertainment, The Bridge is Hip-Hop, AMS Music Events, Atlanta 211, AMS Studios, and G. Fields Music. Fields is currently the president of AMS Enterprise Corp., established and now holds office in Downtown, Atlanta.

After years of making music and producing for artists around the country, G. Fields decided to focus on his first instrument: the saxophone. He adopted a style that’s a cross between smooth jazz, funk, and soul with a hint of hip hop/R&B. It is soothing to the ears and is the perfect tune to relax and chill. His sound inevitably attracted a broader audience from the young and old alike.

Being a well-dressed, older guy, Fields amassed a following of over 30,000 people in his various social media platforms. Fields was featured in major blogs, with the most recent at The Shade Room. During the COVID-19 quarantine, Fields entertains his followers by posting video clips of his unique sound on Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook Live.

But he’s not just a musical artist, G. Fields also has an impeccable sense of fashion. He is known for the salt-and-pepper beard that has garnered him a lot of attention throughout the social media realm, including Beard Gang Matters, He So Sexy, etc. His fashion and talent make him the distinct adult symbol for elegant and sultry music.

In 2019, G. Fields was invited to play at the Annual Mayor’s Ball alongside the likes of Jermaine Dupri and Charlie Wilson. With his debut album “Soul on Ice” set to release in early 2021, G. Fields is ready to serenade the world with his smooth notes imbued by a modern twist.

Music is universal, and Fields’ unique sound allows him to create an energy that can captivate the ears of all humankind. Listen more of his creative work on this website: www.gfieldsmusic.com.
