The highly competitive world of modeling is a make or break industry. Models either have what it takes to be successful or do not, and the pressure can be frustrating and a dream buster. Top model Elvira Jain is not a stranger to the many challenges of the modeling business. She has had her share of missteps in the past, but instead of giving up, she found the courage to use them as a stepping board to launch herself further as a serious and respectable model.
Born in Moldova, Elvira Jain’s greatest dream as a little girl was to become a Latin American soap opera star, having grown up watching them. Fate, however, had a different plan for her. She was noticed by fashion designer Valentina Vidrascu while attending a Math class as a schoolgirl. Among all of the young and beautiful girls in her school, Elvira was chosen to compete in Valentina’s model competition. What happened after was history as her destiny unfolded before her eyes dramatically, as if she was born to rule the runway.
“I want them to be aware that failures can happen, but there are those that can teach the most important lessons of your life,” Elvira Jain shared. “All the ones that happened in my life taught me something, for example, at the beginning I used to get all the castings I was present in, but a couple of times thereafter I did not get the part, so I stopped being judgmental and I fully understand that criticisms can lead you nowhere and can prevent you from growing. I would like people to embrace their vulnerabilities and not take things personally. We are all amazing in our own unique ways, and if we receive a no, it is not the end of the world,” she added.
Elvira Jain finished a degree in Finance and MBA in Finance from the London Business School. Apart from signing promising deals with brands in China, she also worked with other brands from Milan, Greece, India, Turkey, and Dubai, among others. She has represented brands in different magazines, including Women’s Health.
The turning point for Elvira Jain’s career was the season that she spent in China, modeling for various brands. She had an abundance of projects day in and out, and she loved the fast-paced lifestyle that the industry offered her. It was then that she realized that modeling and fashion are two things she sees herself committing to long-term. She soon decided to elevate the value of her personal brand as a model and establish her own company known as DMD Model Management. Every single thing that happened to her in the past, good or bad, collectively made her the person that she is today and brought her to the life of success she carefully built.
As the owner of DMD Model Management, a scouting agency that Elvira Jain founded when she was just 18 years old, she hopes to discover many talented models all over the world who are waiting for the right opportunity that will give them the break that they have been aspiring for. As an entrepreneur, she has gone a long way, but she believes that there is still so much to learn in terms of expanding her business to become a world-class and high-performing company. Apart from growing her company, she also envisions herself thriving as a model in the fashion industry and continues to be the face of several luxury brands in the next few years.
