Elisa Brown’s Journey from Classical Singer to Country Cabaret, Hoodwinked from Heaven and Beyond

Elisa Brown, a classically trained vocalist, has been wowing audiences worldwide for decades with her impressive range of vocal styles. Despite her international success, Brown has always

maintained a strong connection to her Texas roots. When her father, Bill, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, he asked her to write and record a set of country and Americana songs that he could listen to every day so he could keep memories of her fresh in his mind. Bill’s plan worked and he never forgot her. Before Bill passed away, he asked her to promise to turn the songs into a show. Brown kept that promise and transformed the songs into an original, down-home, cabaret-style show entitled “Hoodwinked from Heaven.” These toe-tapping Texas tunes and the true family stories that inspired them are sure to inspire laughter and tug at some heartstrings too. The show will debut for one day only on May 7 at The Leonard Nimoy Thalia at Peter Norton’s Symphony Space in NYC.

“Hoodwinked from Heaven” is a one-woman show that takes the audience on a journey of Brown’s colorful family history, set to a variety of musical genres that complement each of the stories she shares. The title song, “Hoodwinked from Heaven,” is a tribute to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, which sets the stage for the rest of the show. Brown’s wit and humor are on full display in her songwriting, with tracks like “Too Many Yeses & Not Enough Noes,” a story of love gone haywire, and “He Sold Me Down the River for A Pizza & Some Beer,” a tale of betrayal and revenge.
