Most musicians have an origin story. Troubled waters and long roads aside, Chris Piro has used his past to help build a future for others.
Known as the musician Petty Poser, Chris Piro is also an artist, chef, veteran, and founder of the Again Foundation. His music isn’t politicized with a message or armed with an overture. It is, as he puts it, “Bop Heavy.”
Born in the Bay Area in California, Piro’s journey begins with the influence of tune-in and dropout parents. Parents that eschewed the moral responsibilities of being a mother and father. It was through this that Piro started to develop his love for creativity. “Growing up how I did, I needed any escape I could get my hands on. Art was a big factor in my childhood.” says Piro.
Piro spent the next few years in foster homes and developed his reliance on music. “Music was a chance for me to mentally connect to something bigger than myself.”
Fast forward to 2022 and he finally shared that journey with us in musical form. His most recent release “We Don’t Sleep” is a dance hit waiting to be discovered. With ethereal vocals and catchy lyrics, one cannot listen to this song without catching a vibe.
Piro has launched his music in support of his non-profit where 100% of the proceeds from his streaming revenue benefit his foundation. “The primary mission of the Again Foundation is to provide a voice to those who need it most—supporting vulnerable and foster youth in need of mentors and direction.” Again Foundation website.
Music with a purpose is nothing new, yet a musician who shares the same background as those he is trying to help is extra rare.
