Chef Carlos Brown is an award-winning celebrity chef who has climbed the ranks in the culinary world by letting his dishes speak for themselves. As not only a celebrity executive chef, but a restaurateur and entrepreneur, too, Chef Carlos Brown has set himself apart with a track record that is quite deserving, which started in his mother’s kitchen in Charleston, S.C.

Chef Carlos has surpassed expectations from his start as a dish boy at a local restaurant to now making impressive landmark achievements that every chef dreams to accomplish such as having Golden Globe Award-Winning Actor Jim Carey unexpectedly taste one of his dishes, launching his career as a private chef to the stars.

Since then, Chef Carlos has whipped up dishes for celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal, Oprah Winfrey, Danny Glover, Michelle Obama, Whoppi Goldberg, Tyler Perry, Viola Davis, Ray Lewis and more. Today, Chef Carlos is the owner of Shrimp & Grits Cafe and founder of C3 Culinary Group. He has been featured in the Smithsonian African-American Museum for his authentic shrimp and grits dish and also has a day named after him in the city of Charlston, Chef Carlos Brown Day, on August 23 every year. Some of his momentous achievements include the 2020 National Black Chef Awards Culinary Excellence Award, American Culinary Federation (ACF) Award, Kingston Chef Scholastic Award and the Diamond Culinary Medal.

While basking in all his successes as a chef, Chef Carlos has dedicated his time and efforts to teaching youth the importance of culinary arts to inspire and nurture the next generation with the creative skills, education and training to achieve their goals in hospitality. Chef Carlos strongly believes hospitality can change the world, and at his non-profit, C3 Culinary Camp, Inc., he helps make an impact in the lives of youth and special needs children.

His ultimate goal is to get families back to the dinner table because he believes that is where hospitality began, in our homes. “I want to bring the plates back to the table and the pots back to the stove,” says Brown. Growing up on the east side of the projects in an underprivileged downtown neighborhood, he always enjoyed great home cooked meals from his mother who enjoyed cooking just about anything and could make any meal from scraps of ingredients. This is where he developed a love for cooking, most importantly, cooking from the soul.

Chef Carlos has showcased his culinary expertise on notable television networks such as BET, VH1, CNBC, CBS, ABC, FOX and Bounce TV and continues to be a leading influence for the appreciation of food as an art and special experience for the world to enjoy.
