Caroline “Kit” Pilosof is a Canadian/British creative director and digital content creator renowned in the influencer and brand marketing world for her work’s narrative and whimsical nature. Growing up, Caroline always had a passion for storytelling and would spend her time immersed in the wonders of films and fashion. As a child, she recognized that both industries narrate captivating tales in different ways—the film industry through the silver screens and the fashion industry through the different dressing styles.
To merge her passion for storytelling and fashion, Caroline attended the University of Miami, graduating with a BA in Journalism. She then went to the University of the Arts London, where she acquired a Master’s Degree in Fashion, Film, and Digital Production. After her education, she moved to New York and started working in copyrighting at a carpet company, while she worked the other half of her time at her first internship at Coveteur. Her background in fashion editorial gave her a comprehensive understanding of brand storytelling and a unique perspective in the digital content space. She soon became a full-time employee at Marie Claire Magazine, publishing content to a circulation of 2.2 million.
With her skills and experience, Caroline has played a vital role in developing integrated advertising campaigns across emerging channels, TV, print, digital and social. In working directly with clients, she seeks to develop campaigns that achieve the client and brand goals and deliver positive analytic results. Over the past half-decade, Caroline has become a leading figure in the influencer and brand world. She has worked closely with high-profile clients such as Charlotte D’Alessio, singer Arlo Parks, and brands Apple, Tommy Hilfiger and Walmart.
One unique attribute of Caroline’s storytelling is her energetic use of narrative humor. “I like fantasy, and I like laughter—fashion is supposed to be an escape, and I want my audience to feel that through my work. I also make a point to build a connection with my clients—there’s a reason they come to me to tell their story, so I always try to decipher what my own experiences can add to the work that makes it a unique blend of mine and the client’s stories,” she explains to us here at NY Weekly.
In the coming years, Caroline wants to continue putting contemporary and personal twists to fashion and film, experimenting depending on the client to connect with the audience creatively.
“I see myself working for one brand and consistently producing their content. Nowadays, successful brands have to act like media conglomerates essentially—take Gucci as a prime example. So magazine editors are leaving to work at production companies and paving the way for a new era of fashion marketing. I think we’re going to see fashion houses and production companies collaborating in a big way. As a devotee of both languages, I’m so thrilled by the work that will arise, and this is the direction I am keen to move in,” she explains.
