Daytona Beach, FL – January 24, 2025

Last Friday (24), the legendary Daytona International Speedway, Florida, hosted an unforgettable start to the 2025 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season. Among the standout performances was Celso Neto, a 20-year-old Brazilian driver who made history as the first Brazilian to win the IMSA Diverse Driver Development Scholarship. Making his debut in Daytona and driving the TCR-class Audi RS3 TCR LMS for the first time, Neto secured a remarkable third-place podium finish alongside his teammate, Ryan Eversley, for Precision Racing LA.

After a rigorous week of preparation, including practice and qualifying sessions, Neto took on the starting duties in the four-hour endurance race. Sharing driving responsibilities with Eversley, Neto started from fourth on the grid in the #7 Audi RS3 TCR LMS, securing a strong second-row position for the team.

From the green flag, Neto demonstrated his talent and adaptability. His competitive and consistent pace, coupled with precise car control, allowed him to lead the race at one point. Highlights of his impressive stint included an outside overtake during a three-wide battle through the “bus stop” chicane and skillfully avoiding a multi-car collision in the TCR category.

Driving for over two and a half hours in challenging conditions, Neto executed a critical strategy for the team, focusing on managing tire wear and fuel consumption to reduce the number of pit stops. “I had to balance pushing for fast lap times and preserving the tires to make our strategy work. It was one of the toughest and most rewarding stints of my career,” Neto said.

When Neto handed the car over to Eversley, the team was in third place, a result of Celso’s hard work and determination. Eversley then maintained a strong and calculated approach, ensuring the team crossed the finish line to secure a podium finish in the competitive TCR class.

“This race was incredibly special for me,” Neto reflected. “It was my first time at Daytona and my first time racing the Audi RS3 TCR LMS. To leave with a podium finish is beyond rewarding and gives me great confidence for the season ahead. I’m grateful to Precision Racing LA for trusting me with this opportunity, and I’m excited for what’s to come.”

A Remarkable Transition

Celso Neto, who was the runner-up in the 2024 TC America TCX class driving the Acura Integra Type S, has already shown that he can adapt quickly to new challenges. His debut in Daytona was not only a small showcase of his raw talent but also his ability to transition seamlessly to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, one of the competitive touring car platforms in motorsport.

Looking Ahead

With Daytona in the books, Neto and the Precision Racing LA team are now focusing on the next round, set to take place from March 12 to 15 at Sebring International Raceway, another iconic venue in Florida. Neto is eager to continue building momentum and working closely with the team to achieve even greater results.

“This was just the beginning,” Neto said. “We learned a lot, and there’s so much more to accomplish this season. Our goal is to keep improving and fight for the top spot.”
