João Homem, in particular, dedicated countless evenings to studying and understanding the elements that give motion pictures their magical quality. He sought to unlock the key to replicating this cinematic enchantment within their own creative ventures, all while striving to keep costs manageable and avoid the hefty expenses typically associated with traditional film production.

The Journey of Discovery

Their journey was one of deep exploration and learning. They delved into the intricacies of film stocks, lab processing, printing, and color science. They meticulously compared their digital projects side by side with actual film, striving to capture the organic and emotional response that film evokes. About João Homem

João Homem, the CEO and founder of Cromatic, is a creative director and colorist based in Vancouver, Canada. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, João’s journey into the world of filmmaking began with photography in his early teens. His passion for celluloid led him to work in a film development lab, where he learned the intricacies of developing, printing, and analog editing.

After gaining valuable experience as an editor and film director, João co-founded Escuro Studios with his friends Keyon Slowly and Alex Robichaud. This production company eventually gave rise to Cromatic, a platform that embodies their collective passion for film and creativity.
