Angelina Tereshchenko Weaves Music and Compassion at Vivaldi Academy of Music

Music has long served as a creative outlet and, sometimes, an escape for those experiencing trauma or neglect. Angelina Tereshchenko helps orphans find confidence and healing and trains students in classical music via the Vivaldi Academy of Music.

Born in Italy to Ukrainian and Estonian parents, Angelina Tereshchenko is a professional artist, musician, composer, and the owner of a private music teaching studio. Her parents and grandparents immigrated from the former Soviet Union due to persecution for their Christian faith in search of an environment where they could worship freely and provide better opportunities for their children. Their journey took them first through Italy before eventually arriving in the United States.

Angelina grew up in an enabling environment with strong family values focused on hard work and creativity, as modeled by her parents. She is one out of nine children who have all pursued quite the range of careers—a videographer, a makeup artist, entrepreneurs, photographers, musicians, engineers, and a pilot. According to Angelina, her parents exemplified what it meant to have a serving heart, and her childhood is filled with memories of visiting orphanages and serving the homeless. She recalls that their home always hosted an assortment of guests—from preachers and opera singers to the random person in need that her mom had met on the street.

Those years had a profound impact on Angelina, and she developed a soft spot for orphans, always seeking out ways to use her gifts and talents in service to them. Several years ago, she was given the opportunity to help start a children’s choir at an orphanage in Ukraine. Observing the positive effects that making music had on the children as a creative outlet and a form of therapy, she decided then and there to use the proceeds from her artwork and music to start similar projects in the future. That experience altered the course of her life and led to the establishment of her brainchild, the Vivaldi Academy of Music.

The Vivaldi Academy of Music derived its name and model from the famous composer Antonio Vivaldi, a renowned humanitarian—in addition to his skills as a musician and composer—who taught composition skills and improvisation to orphans. The Music Academy showcases a unique path in its approach to music education, focusing not just on technical skills but also on producing well-rounded and compassionate individuals. It follows the classical traditions of Eastern European music schools with over two hours of music instructions per week as opposed to the conventional once-a-week 30-minute model.

Through the Vivaldi Academy of Music, Angelina Tereshchenko seeks to restore the classical art of music improvisation and composition prevalent in the Baroque era and tailored a program to help young music students realize their creativity and music potential via thorough musical training. The program emphasizes tone production, healthy playing techniques, and dedicated ear training reputed to yield phenomenal results.

The Academy utilizes the latest research in performance psychology to help students deal with performance nerves while giving them lots of performance opportunities to express their genius and talent throughout their musical journey. Angelina also works collaboratively with individuals and patrons to assist orphans with musical inclinations. “Orphans oftentimes do not have the same opportunities to realize their music potential if they choose that path. I want to provide the best music education opportunities and support for these kids.”

In the coming years, Angelina envisions the Vivaldi Academy producing leaders, independent thinkers, and of course, creative and innovative musicians who not only influence the music industry but their communities and the world at large. She aims to keep creating art that speaks to people’s hearts and hopes to sponsor talented music students from low-income families in their music education.
