New York City has always been a magnet for the world’s most talented and ambitious individuals, and while Alejandro Amézquita might call Los Angeles home, his impact on the music industry stretches to the Big Apple.
As 2024 is about to finish, Alejandro is closing the year, performing a tour across the United States and Canada with singer Bixby.
Amézquita joined Bixby’s band as the lead guitarist for a 13-show tour covering major cities across the United States and Canada. The tour, which kicked off on October 30 in Los Angeles, culminated on November 22 with a sold-out show in Chicago. Every stop on the tour sold out.
For Alejandro, the Bixby tour represented a perfect synergy of preparation and passion. He credits the tour’s success to the collaborative spirit of everyone involved, from the artist to the production team. The energy at each show was palpable, with Alejandro bringing his signature intensity and skill to the stage. He had the opportunity to connect with audiences, describing the experience as one that reaffirmed his deep love for live performance.
But the Bixby tour is just the latest chapter in a career that has been marked by versatility and excellence. Alejandro’s journey began in Puerto Vallarta, where his passion for the guitar began at the age of 12. By 19, he had moved to Los Angeles to attend the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, a decision that proved to be a turning point.
Over the years, Alejandro has built an impressive resume. In 2021, he performed with country music star Mickey Guyton at The Rose Parade’s New Year Celebration, a televised event watched by millions. The following year, he joined Don Toliver and NAV for a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! That same year, he accompanied Don Toliver on an Australian tour, playing to crowds of over 20,000 in cities like Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth.
His work isn’t limited to the stage. Behind the scenes, Alejandro has contributed to significant productions, such as Don Toliver’s performance at Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Show, which was streamed on Prime Video. He’s also collaborated with industry icons like Randy Jackson, co-writing songs and drawing from Jackson’s wealth of experience.
In 2023, Alejandro’s schedule remained as demanding as ever. He joined Latin artist Carmen DeLeon at the Olé Music Festival in San Diego and was a key member of Doobie’s headline tour, performing in over 32 cities across the United States. That same year, he worked with Grammy-winning artist Fantasia.
Alejandro attributes much of his success to his ability to stay grounded and present. Whether performing in front of a studio audience or thousands of fans in an arena, he tries to connect with listeners by immersing himself in the music. He believes that genuine passion is contagious, and it’s this authenticity that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
Education also played a pivotal role in shaping Alejandro as an artist. His time at the Musicians Institute exposed him to a diverse range of influences and taught him the importance of versatility. He also cites Barry Squire, a renowned figure in the music industry, as a key mentor who opened doors early in his career.
Alejandro also emphasizes the importance of preparation and adaptability when performing on live television, as he did in his performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
New York and the world continue to celebrate the artists who shape our culture, like Alejandro Amézquita. His connection to the city goes beyond geography, while the Mexican artist dreams of someday headlining a show in Madison Square Garden because the world’s stage is his to conquer.
