Adit’s on-screen presence has been described as “mesmerizing” and “compelling”, and he has quickly become a sought-after actor for both film and television projects. His ability to tackle diverse characters has helped him build his reputation as an actor.
“Growing up in New York City and studying at NYU has had a huge impact on my career,” says Adit. “I feel incredibly lucky to have had these opportunities and to be able to bring my unique perspective to the entertainment industry.”
Currently based in New York, Adit continues to take on new and challenging roles. His upcoming projects include several feature films and a lead role in a new television series.
Before coming to New York, Adit has shared his personal experience of growing up in a new country. Born in India and moving to New Jersey at the age of 10, Adit and his family faced the challenge of adapting to a new culture.
Adit reminisced on his childhood memories of the move, “My parents told me we were coming to the US to “see snow.” I didn’t really understand what was happening because I was ten years old and moving to New Jersey. In Singapore, public transport allows even a child to travel around with independence, so the move to suburbs was a new transition.”
One of the most significant challenges Adit faced was when he got into his first yellow school bus and nobody could pronounce his full name. “I made my first friend on the bus with my still fresh-off-the-boat accent as a chubby kid with snoopy glasses, and introduced myself proudly as Aditya Dileep. “Wait wait wait, spell that for me?” “A-D-I-T” “Okay I’m going to call you Adit” – and it stuck!”
Despite the challenges of adjusting to a new culture and the difficulties that come with starting over, Adit, along with his family, found their circles of friends, many of which still last to this day. Adit believes that the blank slate innocence that he arrived with helped him to absorb the new culture and ultimately helped him in his successful career.
Adit Dileep has proven his worth as one of the most versatile and talented actors in New York. Everyone can’t wait to see what he will do next in his career.
