Rocket Club Math has officially opened its fourth Manhattan location at 1415 Lexington Avenue on the Upper East Side, and is offering free trial classes for new families until the program reaches capacity.
The new Lexington Avenue space joins Rocket Club Math’s existing Manhattan locations on the Upper West Side and in Tribeca, extending its uniquely child-centered approach to building confidence, curiosity, and excitement around math during the foundational Pre-K through elementary school years.
A Club Kids Want to Join, Not a Class They’re Assigned To
Rocket Club Math flips the traditional narrative. Rather than focusing on remediation, the program treats math as enrichment; something to explore, build, and celebrate.
Classes run more like a club than a classroom, using challenges, games, themed activities, and visible progress systems that keep children engaged for two-hour sessions. Many families describe it as the one activity their kids look forward to every week.
Rocket Club Math’s innovative approach also fosters a sense of community and collaboration among students. Children are encouraged to work together on projects and challenges, which helps them develop teamwork and communication skills. This environment not only makes math fun but also builds important social skills that will benefit them throughout their education. Parents appreciate how the program nurtures curiosity and a love for learning, ensuring their kids develop a positive mindset toward math. Ultimately, Rocket Club Math aims to empower children with the confidence and skills they need to succeed academically and beyond.
“What we see is that too many children decide they aren’t good at math before it ever gets complicated,” said founder Alex Hodara. “Once that belief sets in, it follows them for years. Our goal is to make sure kids experience math as fun, creative, and empowering from the very beginning.”
Early feedback from families mirrors that mission. One parent shared, “Our son wakes up excited on Rocket Club days,” while another noted, “If I took away every activity but one, Rocket Club Math is the one he’d keep.”
An Emerging Model for Early Education, Rooted in Research and Passion
Rocket Club’s approach is heavily influenced by Hodara’s background, which blends math, entrepreneurship, and storytelling. As a child, he learned advanced math through his father’s fantasy baseball league. As an adult, he built and sold properties in Boston and Jersey City before entering the world of childhood education, where he now studies Mathematics Education at Harvard University.
“It brings me immense happiness to see the positive impact and influence the Mathematics for Teaching master’s program at Harvard has had on Alex’s work,” said Dr. Carolyn Gardner-Thomas, director of the program. “Rocket Club Math is shaping a new standard for the critical early years, when children build foundational math skills. Mathematics needs everyone, and Rocket Club Math is helping children realize that.”
Free Trial Classes While Space Allows
To welcome families to the new neighborhood and introduce children to the curriculum, Rocket Club Math is offering free trial classes at the new Lexington Avenue location until capacity is reached. Families can reserve a trial slot via the Rocket Club Math website https://rocketclub.com/lexington.
With limited class sizes and a strong historical response, the team expects free-trial spots to fill quickly.
A Different Kind of Math Program for Pre-K and Early Elementary
Rocket Club Math serves children typically in Pre-K through 3rd grade, a phase Hodara refers to as the “deciding years”; the period before children decide if they are good or bad at math, or whether it’s something they enjoy or avoid.
“When kids experience math as exploration instead of pressure, they build a positive relationship that lasts,” Hodara said. “That’s the entire mission.”
