I’m An Author Academy With Emma Jean: Promoting Storytelling and Creative Writing for the Younger Generation

Storytelling is perhaps one of the most valuable communication tools anyone can use as it has the power to influence, teach, and inspire. Cognizant of this, best-selling author Emma Jean has created I’m An Author Academy as an avenue for aspiring storytellers to share their thoughts with the world.

The venture aims to help parents and teenagers who are interested in becoming published authors. Students can work with best-selling authors to create and publish their own books through the platform.

Emma Jean is the award winning author of Charles McCheese and The Childhood News Network. The story was initially written for her son, who loved hearing stories where he is the star. However, the story evolved into a middle grade novel that included characters inspired by the young boy’s friends.

She has also created several short stories for kids, including The Bathroom Monster, The Doctor of Dunce, and Emma Jean Imagining. Before becoming an author, she worked long-term in childhood mental health, both in schools and therapeutic settings. She also did volunteer work which allowed her to mentor young children in the United States and abroad.

But perhaps the gifted writer is most notably known for her outstanding STEM fantasy novel Sleeping Beauty and The Cursed Code. The author has perfectly captured the fantasy theme of princess classics like Snow White and Sleeping Beauty while putting a modern spin where the protagonists are tech-powered superheroes.

What prompted the insightful individual to create the empowering and educational work is Alanna Petroff’s call to action. The journalist remarked, “Promote female role models in STEM subjects: It’s much easier for girls to imagine a career in STEM subjects if they see successful examples.”

Emma Jean took on this challenge the best way she knew how by writing a relatable story that shows young girls how to pursue these careers without changing themselves. As someone who loves to read, she understood the impact of a well-written book.

She shared, “Reading is like breathing for me; I can’t survive without it. I understand the world through stories and books that don’t just take me everywhere in this world but to every other universe that anyone’s ever taken the time to imagine. No one, kid or adult, should have to miss all that.”

With the success of her book, the incredible woman now aims to pay it forward through the I’m An Author Academy. On top of helping young minds hone their writing skills, Emma Jean also plans to simplify the publishing process.

She candidly shared, “The journey to becoming an author isn’t an easy one. The amount of rejection required for me to have figured out how to guide others to best-seller status is almost overwhelming, but knowing what I know now, I wouldn’t change it for anything. Being able to feel that sense of accomplishment from my students is the best.”

Emma Jean hopes that the new generation will be influenced to pursue careers in STEM through her efforts. Moreover, she hopes that people will realize the immense power of stories and utilize it to promote progress.
