One out of every three adults in the United States suffer from some form of heart disease, and in the next 20 years, the statistic is only expected to grow to more than 40%. It is unfortunate that the standard medical care provided is sick care, which, as some say, is the concept of western medicine wherein the disease is treated, but prevention is lacking, and soon the patient will become sick again. The Global Foundation for Preventive Cardiology is an organization founded by the Global Healthcare Leader and India’s First Female Preventive Cardiologist, Pratiksha Gandhi, M.D.
The GFFPC recently headquartered in Los Angeles, California with a global mission of being a catalyst of change for more than 100 million hearts through empowering heart health education tools and techniques. Through online outreaches and constant motivation to work towards maintaining healthy lifestyles, the foundation hopes to drastically reduce the incidence of heart disease in the United States. To this effort, their website contains free tools and evidence-based resources on how they can maximize heart health through education and empowerment.
The beginnings of the foundation can be traced back to 1997, when the young Doctor Pratiksha Gandhi encountered the first case in her small nursing home in Mumbai, India. The patient had been insistent that it was better to die than undergo surgery, given financial constraints and obligations. This example is a heartbreaking situation for all healthcare workers that unfortunately happens worldwide.
That event imprinted itself upon the young doctor’s mind, and as a trained teacher in yoga and meditation, she had been involved in studies of reversing heart disease with yogic techniques. She then came up with the ingenious idea of integrating ancient techniques with modern allopathic technologies that she presented to the patient, and sure enough, six months later, he had recovered enough that he had been healthy enough to walk up to four miles at a time.
This achievement laid the groundwork for her specialization in preventive cardiology, in which she and her team spread the message of heart care and disease prevention to millions of people across the globe with TV shows and thousands of articles. Today, the Global Foundation for Preventive Cardiology is directed by the quintessential team of brilliant young individuals, Shiv Vinay Pandey and Nireeksha Namjoshi.
Shiv Vinay Pandey is an adept Himalayan Yogi who has been instrumental in the development of an evidence-based Yoga way of life for the prevention or reversal of heart disease. He practices Patanjali Yoga, Breathworks, Yogic Kriyas, and self-healing through celestial sounds, all of which have contributed to a holistic way of life that translates into an optimally healthy body.
On the other hand, Nireeksha Namjoshi is responsible for the technological aspects of the foundation, including digital assets and education programs available for heart patients. Pratiksha Gandhi, herself, pioneered the concept of Preventive and Non-Invasive Cardiology. Together, the three of them are on a mission to minimize the incidence of preventable heart disease through holistic health practices.
