In the highly competitive music industry, artists often face a tug-of-war between following a dependable formula guaranteed to create hit songs and staying true to one’s unique creative process. This dilemma is even more prominent in established labels where executives pressure musicians to release tracks that are profitable. As a result, many talented singer-songwriters succumb to these business demands and end up losing their authenticity. Cognizant of this, one inspiring company is committed to giving its artists autonomy and providing them a safe space to pursue their musicality: Safe House Studios.
The Chicago-based revolutionary enterprise is founded by Ricardo Ortiz, a 23-year-old visionary who is passionate about music. Proudly explaining what makes his brand different from the rest, he said, “My recording studio is intended to be a safe haven for artists. Our artists are the center of our business, and we value them. We love music, and we want to provide a haven for artists looking for a platform to grow and become great.”
On top of its admirable goal, the venture is also known for its comprehensive list of offerings. Not only does it cater to all recording needs, but it also delivers many other services. “What separates us from the rest is the part where we aren’t just a music recording studio. We also do content creations for artists looking to take themselves to the next level, such as photo content, music videos, skits, directing, teaching students, and the list will only grow,” the founder shared.
He added, “We are one of the only studios to offer in-house videography and have an isolated photography room in the same space dedicated to our clients.” As such, many clients choose Safe House Studios for its one-stop-shop nature. Moreover, the independent label has recently signed a highly acclaimed artist to its roster.
Asked to share his motivation for starting the business, the insightful individual looked back on his journey and shared, “I used to work for an exotic car company when they were nothing, and I basically handled all the promotion and sales side of it. But, then, I realized I was growing the wrong business and not focusing on my dreams.”
Aside from his undeniable passion for music, what allowed the remarkable young man to build such a successful and intuitive enterprise is his innate business acumen. Additionally, Ricardo had the incredible opportunity of being mentored by business authority Jason Valcarcel, the CEO of Private Stock, who believed in his immense potential as an entrepreneur. After witnessing the substantial growth in the studio over such a short period of time, the executive continued pushing Ricardo to keep going.
Moving forward, Ricardo Ortiz intends to continue the upward trajectory of his enterprise while remaining faithful to his vision. As the entrepreneur optimistically declared, “In due time, Safe House Studio’s offering of services will continue to grow, including becoming more interactive with schools in the city, because we would love to be resourceful to kids who are just as passionate about music.”
