Sheer musical artistry is often a cathartic experience. It brings about several emotions that exude from an artist’s passion for their craft and striking personality. Jessie Berg draws out a plethora of emotions within her listeners through her powerful vocals and dynamic energy levels.
Jessie Berg is a Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter who has amassed over two million cumulative streams all across major streaming platforms. Her reputation as an artist has been lauded by critics and fans alike, bringing her to grace the pages of Hollywood Life, The Hype Magazine, and other mainstream outlets.
Throughout the previous year, Jessie Berg has been hard at work honing her signature sound with a series of singles. “I try to convey emotion through my voice,” she exclaimed. “There are moments where I’m calm and chill, but I’m also hyperactive. There’s no in-between. I’m drastically different—either super relaxed or very energetic. Depending on the day, I’m everything,” she added.
Jessie always had a passion for music growing up. Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, her musical talents would later be discovered by her grandma, who heard her singing in the car.
That trend continued as she took advantage of any opportunities to sing. She studied her voice, participated in choir, and performed in musicals. At the same time, she obsessed over favorite artists such as Amy Winehouse.
Eventually, Jessie would immerse herself in the entertainment industry after graduating high school. She worked in her cousin’s recording studio and devoted spare time to writing and recording her own music. Simultaneously, she interned for FLAUNT Magazine.
In 2019, Jessie introduced herself with the single “Monster.” It generated hundreds of thousands of streams as The Hype Magazine raved, “Jessie Berg is a true model for women to feel empowered to talk about the real issues, feelings, and ideas with confidence.” On its heels, she dropped “Faithful To Toxic” in 2021, racking up 224K Spotify streams and 500K views on YouTube.
Jessie worked with some of the most talented producers in the music industry, such as Jordan Omley and Mike Summers, to carefully refine her artistic vision.
“We didn’t think twice about anything,” shared the artist. “The songs just came out immediately. We were all on the same page in terms of the writing and the production.”
The same year also saw the three-pack of singles Jessie released, each with a different vibe and means of artistic expression.
“Safe Space” featured a nervous beat laid across confessional lyrics such as “There’s a reason why I’m day drinking, and I swear it’s barely 10 am,” before an intensely infectious hook unfurls.
Jessie later explained that the song was about her anxiety and the headspace she found herself in at the time. She was writing about how she used to experience crippling anxiety, forcing herself to hold back and keeping herself in the safe space inside her head where she didn’t need to open up to other people. “I stayed in my bubble because I was comfortable,” explained Jessie.
The single “Pray” sees Jessie at her most vulnerable. The pain in her voice is evident as she seems to warn the audience not to get too close to her. “I’m basically saying, ‘Be careful what you wish for.’ Everything may look nice and pretty on the outside, but be careful if you get close to me.”
“Stages,” on the other hand, highlights Jessie’s diary-style lyrics as she once again examines a tendency to retreat inward, “I say goodbye just to play it safe.”
“I put myself in these situations with guys that I know aren’t good, but I can’t help it,” admitted Jessie. “It’s a cycle. If the energy changes or something is off, I’ll leave. I’m just being honest.”
Ultimately, the series of singles deeply resonated with fans and critics alike. Jessie Berg has indeed shown the world that there is no one else quite like her in the music industry in every way. “When you hear my music, I want you to be like, ‘That was definitely Jessie,’” she shared. Indeed, Jessie’s musical stylings are her own. She is a tremendously distinct artist, one that is a rare gem in our current generation, and she’s poised to do so much more in the years to come.
