Sultan “Sully” Kapadia and Fardeen Sayani are brothers-in-law and business partners. “But with us, it’s always family first,” Fardeen said. Together, they built this business from the ground up. Despite the many challenges they faced and the doubts of some family members, Puff’s Smoke Shop has become the go-to place for vape and CBD-related products in Atlanta.
Fardeen Sayani believes that the difference in his and Sully Kapadia’s personalities is the secret to their success. “It’s like we complement each other. We just worked well together and became the perfect business partners,” Fardeen shared, “And business has always been in my blood. My parents have been in business for more than 20 years. So when Sully and I came up with this plan, I knew we could achieve big things.”
Before they started Puff’s Smoke Shop, Fardeen and Sully were smoke shop shoppers. They had particular brands and products that they liked but found it increasingly difficult to find a shop that carried their favorites. “We would call ahead of time to check if they had it in stock, but we would always end up calling multiple shops before we could find what we wanted,” Fardeen recalled. Their frustration sparked the idea that they could fill in the gaps in the market and provide the items that were not often on the shelves of the other smoke shops.
Even with a solid plan and insider knowledge of business, their families expressed doubts about the future of Puff’s Smoke Shop. Co-founder Fardeen said, “Our families were hesitant. Our families counted us out before we even began. But Sully and I believed in our vision.”
The differences in their personalities meant that Fardeen and Sully viewed each speed bump and achievement differently. Nevertheless, they challenged and pushed each other, both wanting to succeed no matter what pace it takes. “We also put ourselves in our customers’ shoes,” Fardeen said, “We always thought about what they want, and not what we think they need.”
Puff Smoke Shop carries a variety of tobacco, vape, and CBD products. Being smoke enthusiasts themselves, the two founders ensured that they offered their clientele the best products at the best price. They are also focused on serving their customers better each day. “Customer service and building good relationships with our clients is very important to the company,” Fardeen said, “It motivates us to do better.”
Fardeen Sayani and Sully Kapadia have big plans for Puff’s Smoke Shop. “At one point in my life, I was almost homeless,” Fardeen shared, “But somehow I pulled through. Now, Sully and I have this booming business, and things are looking up for both of us.” They hope to take the Puff’s Smoke Shop nationwide and expand their brand. “The industry is still evolving,” Fardeen said, “And we are staying ahead of the curve and showing our customers what we can bring to the table.”
