We’ve all been there. The airport can be very chaotic between long lines of traffic to get dropped off and picked up. You have to hit the jackpot for a stress-free travel day. But now, there might be a solution that gives us more time back in our day and calms the airport. AI is revolutionizing the airport industry.
This new type of technology is giving people a heightened sense of security and maximizing their time so they can get to where they need to be.
According to a survey, at least 63% of people feel stressed that they will miss their flight because of traffic. Cars often back up the arrival and departure terminals, causing overcrowding and chaos. AI is helping mitigate this mess through license plate technology, giving you enough time to make it onboard worry-free.
“Traveling to and from the airport can be a challenge. There have been times when I have waited over an hour to be picked up because the pick-up line is so backed up. That is inconvenient for anyone, but what if AI could help us? Well, it already is. GenAI technology is advancing to where it can detect vehicles’ license plates, alerting people if cars are loitering too long or if they are not in the area they are supposed to be,” says Brian Sathianathan, Co-Founder and CTO of Iterate.ai.
License plate technology is providing an automated experience for people. For example, AI tracking can recognize airport taxis and shuttles, which will help guide them into the appropriate lanes. The signs at the airport can be confusing—trust me, I have made a wrong turn once or twice before. But this technology will help separate airport drivers from people just dropping off or picking up their loved ones, providing a better overall experience.
AI is also being used as an alert system. Cars that are parked and loitering too long often take up space that could be used for people with someone to pick up. This technology will help keep track of those cars just waiting and tell them to move on so others can do what they need to do quickly. The airport is busy, and people need a little more guidance.
“This breaks up traffic and allows cars to flow more smoothly, making things safer and more secure for people. Having a resource like this is necessary because it makes our lives easier and gives us more time to do things that matter. Instead of waiting extra long at the airport, you could already be with your loved ones or getting other chores out of the way,” Brian says.
Smoother traffic operations will help fix much of the chaos at the airport, but AI is also providing people with more security. License plate tracking helps identify cars that are in restricted areas. Are they actually supposed to be there or not? It may not seem like such a big deal, but this can ensure people are accounted for and help prevent security problems that could potentially arise. It’s better to be proactive in case of an emergency.
The airport can be a nightmare for many people. AI is there to ensure you have time to make memories instead of waiting in line to get inside the airport.
