Your hairstyle possesses the ability to change your looks and make you appear unique in the eyes of the world. Looking attractive, smart, and professional is something all of us desire at some point in our lives. But getting that perfect look for yourself is not as easy as it sounds. While some want it funky, others want it simple and defined, a smooth haircut can change your mood, style, and personality altogether. In the world of hairstylists, there is one name that shines just like your hair should, and that is Kendrick Mora, better known as Choochcutz.
Mora, who dreamt of becoming a computer engineer, found solace in the beauty industry and decided to pursue it with his first pair of clippers. At that time, he used to work in a factory and had very little time to explore the art of cutting hair. This was when he found a way to follow his passion and started practicing barbering on the weekends. Continuing the practice, Mora landed a part-time opportunity at a local barbershop in Southwest Detroit. Little did he know that he would soon become a top-of-the-line barber in the region.
Having found his love and penchant for hair and beauty, Kendrick took the plunge and decided to quit his factory job to go full-time into this profession. To further enhance his skills, Mora attended barber school and graduated at the age of 22. Kendrick is the best example for young people to keep hustling until their passion becomes their profession. He also acts as a mentor for youth by teaching them the art of cutting hair through his social media posts.
Only five years into the beauty industry, Mora already caters to high profile clientele such as Lil Baby, Stephen Curry, Alan Daniel Maman, Cade Parker Cunningham, and Udonis Johneal Hasselm, to name a few. He has been impressing everyone in Detroit with his meticulous, clean, and to-the-point haircut, such that no detail goes unnoticed. “The prices start from $75 and reach upward of $250 during premium hours”, says Mora.
Talking about his barber shop, Choochcutz, Mora mentions that his venture got its name from the slang word “cucho”, which means “an old man.” As the youngest of his four siblings, Mora was often addressed as “cucho” by his older sister, which was later shortened to “chooch” by one of his friends. Hence the name “Choochcutz” came into being.
