Your hair is your crowning glory. The reason why this classic biblical adage survived for centuries is that it rings true to everyone. Hair is an essential part of beauty and self-expression, as evident by the booming hair industry, and only very few truly understand its importance and likewise master the craft of hair care and styling.
Martino Cartier is among the very few who have perfected the art. Even when he was young, Martino was already interested in hair. “He was born with a pair of golden shears in his hand,” his mother stated.
From a humble start, Martino would then go and achieve many successes. Martino became the number 1 hair brand on HSN and appeared on Bravo TV, where he attracted millions of fans. His award-winning salon with a staff of over fifty people, whom he affectionately calls as The Ultimate Team, has been everywhere since then. His salon was also named the Top Salon in America by W Magazine. They appeared in hair shows and magazines alike, such as Modern Salon Magazine, Vogue, Launchpad, Behind the Chair, Salon Today, The Golden Globes, Waldorf Astoria Intercoiffure, and Fontainebleau Intercoiffure, to name a few. He gained high-profile clientele such as Weight Watchers’ CEO Mindy Grossman and acquired Paula Abdul as chairman of his non-profit philanthropic organization, Wigs & Wishes.
Despite everything, Martino considers his philanthropy the most crucial part of his journey, and he does not allow red tape operating his organization so that no one gets turned away. Martino founded the Wigs & Wishes organization that supports women and children battling cancer. Wigs & Wishes provides over 25,000 wigs to women battling cancer every year for free, and grants wishes to cancer-stricken children.
Recently, he improved the lives of people at Washington Township High School by organizing and providing over five hundred graduates with swag bags and roses for the teachers.
He still has a lot to give, and it’s in his principles to turn no one in need of help away. In the time of the pandemic, when his salon stopped operating, Martino did not sit by idly. He spearheaded Passover with a Purpose and raised over $42,000 to purchase an ambulance in Israel for United Hatzalah.
Martino believes one of the reasons for his immense success is his capacity to give. He lives by his favorite saying, “If you don’t know how to give, you don’t know how to live.” His philanthropy started when we helped out a family with a terminally ill child raise $5,000 for medical expenses. In just a day, they exceeded their goal and even reached $20,000, four times more than their target. Moreover, Martino gives out motivational speaking to inspire and help people’s confidence to overcome obstacles.
Martino hopes that he will be known by every single person in the USA not because of his fame and success but because of his compassion and drive to help out others. And if anything, he wishes to inspire people to do the same.
