Art has become a generational way of expression that is influencing the development of cities, we have seen it for example in the growth of Miami, with ArtBasel week and all the satellite fairs that come together to form an incredible event for the people of that city.
A similar growth is being seen in states such as North Carolina, where the work of artists such as Marcos David, an Ecuadorian immigrant who is currently part of the Southern Customs Tattoo Company in the city of Fayetteville, is being recognized for his style and has become a reference in the artistic movement of the state.
Marcos David is the one who works on the designs and applies their correct use on the skin of his clients, with the strictest sterilization and hygiene and quality standards of the products and techniques he uses. This has greatly benefited the growth of his clients and has also allowed him to provide follow-up of the tattoos performed for proper healing, providing correct information on the necessary care after the application of the tattoo.
He is also the winner of an open competition organized by the Art Council, where a lot of artists registered and he has been the only Latino to participate and win twice in 2019 and 2022, practically consecutively, because it wasn’t held in the intervening years due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
This was an important boost to his career because he was able to validate all his effort and allowed recognized galleries to open their doors and exhibit his art. Marcos David’s impact on the North Carolina art scene goes beyond his personal successes. His creativity and skill have generated a new appreciation for the art of tattooing in the local community.
