The Challenger Experience
Roaring down an open highway astride, an Indian Challenger delivers a rush that few other experiences can quite match. These powerhouses roll off the assembly line ready to impress, but savvy riders know factory specs often merely scratch the surface of possibility. Over the years, we’ve watched many Challenger owners transform their rides from impressive to extraordinary through thoughtful customization.
Davidson Audio didn’t enter the Indian Challenger accessory market by accident. Our journey began when our founder struggled to find audio components that performed consistently at highway speeds without distortion. After developing three prototypes and conducting countless road tests, we’ve earned a reputation for components that can truly enhance what’s already an exceptional machine.
Beyond Cosmetic Upgrades
Serious motorcyclists understand that true customization often goes beyond chrome accents and paint jobs. Meaningful upgrades can fundamentally reshape your relationship with the machine beneath you. When customers visit our showroom after upgrading their Challengers, many report how the same roads they’ve traveled for years suddenly feel new again.
Stock Challengers perform admirably, but the difference between factory-standard and thoughtfully customized can become noticeable after the first hundred miles. Customization isn’t just vanity—for many riders, it’s practicality translated through personal expression.
Long-distance comfort, audio clarity, storage solutions, and handling characteristics can often be fine-tuned to match your specific riding habits. Whether you’re carving canyon roads or crossing state lines, your motorcycle can feel like a natural extension of yourself.
Audio Engineering for the Open Road
Highway speeds create uniquely challenging acoustic environments. Wind noise at 70mph can overwhelm standard speakers, while vibration may wreak havoc on component longevity. When developing our Thunderbolt system, we tested prototypes across five states and through a variety of weather conditions.
Unlike universal systems that claim compatibility with dozens of models, our mounting brackets integrate specifically with the Challenger’s frame geometry. This precision helps eliminate the rattles and buzzing that can affect hastily-fitted alternatives.
The weatherproofing compound we use on speaker cones was adapted from marine audio technology designed to withstand ocean spray and tropical downpours. By applying it to our motorcycle systems, we aim to ensure clarity even in adverse weather conditions.
Voice command capability was integrated as a safety-focused design priority. Adjusting volume or changing tracks without removing hands from grips may help reduce risk during high-speed cruising—particularly when full attention on the road is essential.
The Science of Rider Comfort
Wind buffeting can create fatigue through constant pressure against the rider’s chest and helmet. After 90 minutes, this often transforms from minor annoyance to noticeable exhaustion. Our touring windshield incorporates an aerodynamic profile designed to direct airflow around rather than against the rider.
The swept-edge design was refined through wind-tunnel testing to optimize performance. Its slightly asymmetrical shape helps account for crosswind scenarios frequently encountered on open highways, potentially reducing head-shake and improving stability at speed.
Ergonomic modifications can compound their benefits. Our seat contours were developed using pressure-mapping studies that identified areas where standard seats might create numbness during extended rides. When paired with our adjustable highway pegs, some riders report increased comfortable saddle time before needing breaks.
Integrated Storage Solutions
Motorcycle storage presents unique engineering challenges. Containers should ideally remain weatherproof while complementing the bike’s visual lines and maintaining proper weight distribution. Our saddlebag system aims to address this through structural reinforcement at mounting points, helping to prevent the sagging that sometimes affects competitors’ offerings.
The quick-release mechanism is designed for a single-handed motion, balancing security with convenience. Weather sealing utilizes silicone gaskets known for their flexibility through temperature extremes, reducing the risk of cracking or degrading.
Performance Enhancement

Though audio and comfort form our specialties, we’ve partnered with industry-leading performance specialists to offer comprehensive customization options. The performance packages we recommend have been tested in real-world conditions alongside our comfort and audio components.
Well-calibrated intake/exhaust combinations may yield noticeable torque improvements while enhancing the Challenger’s distinctive exhaust note. When properly matched with other upgrades, these modifications can contribute to a cohesive riding experience rather than a collection of mismatched parts.
