From Adversity to Triumph: A Remarkable Journey of Resilience – Jeanith Escoton’s Story

As Jeanith Escoton stands on the deck of a ship, looking out over the waters, she reflects on the approaching storm. The wind blows, and a fine mist sprays over her body, foretelling the imminent rain. She gazes into the ocean, where the dark, churning waves remind her of the tumultuous journey her life has been. Her childhood was marked by hardship and adversity, but it was also filled with love and support from her family. Jeanith’s story is one of resilience, triumph, and unwavering tenacity, and it’s a testament to the human spirit’s ability to weather life’s storms.

Born with a congenital disability that left her partially blind and partially deaf, Jeanith faced many challenges from a young age. To make matters more complicated, she had never known her father since her birth, and she grew up in a broken family. These early experiences could have easily defined her life in a negative way, but Jeanith’s story is one of transformation and strength.

Despite being bullied, discriminated against, and judged throughout her life, Jeanith’s unwavering spirit led her to find a source of strength and support in her best friend, Fatima Leira Ebcas. Together, they faced the harsh tides of life, refusing to let the judgments and accusations of others define their worth. Their faith in God became a source of resilience, allowing them to navigate life’s challenges with grace and determination. Jeanith describes Fatima as her rock and confidante, someone who has been there through the breaking and the burning, and all the cannon fire that kept them turning.

Jeanith’s resilience and determination are not only evident in her personal life but also in her professional journey. She found her passion in Disaster Risk Reduction and became an advocate in this field, focusing on saving the needy and helping the community. Her dedication to serving others and her unwavering commitment to her beliefs have helped her weather the storms of life and find strength in the face of adversity.

Jeanith’s journey took her to an aircraft maintenance technology school in Leyte, where she wore multiple hats, including guidance counselor, registrar, cashier, administrator, and faculty member. Despite the significant responsibilities, she did not receive adequate compensation for her efforts. Still, her primary goal was to impart knowledge and values to her students, hoping to see them graduate as the best versions of themselves. However, the school’s priorities and values did not align with Jeanith’s, and she found herself accused of being a strict teacher and faced accusations related to the school’s finances. Despite these challenges, Jeanith’s past experiences and strength of character led her to seek a more supportive and fulfilling environment.

Jeanith eventually found her way to Alegre De Pilipinas, where she crossed paths with Ms. Janice Delima Tentler, the CEO of the company. Under Ms. Tentler’s leadership, Jeanith learned to be brave and resilient, despite the setbacks she had faced throughout her life. Alegre De Pilipinas provided Jeanith with a platform to excel and showcase her skills, demonstrating that she could rise above her past experiences to achieve greatness.

Today, Jeanith is the IT Manager and Web Developer at Alegre De Pilipinas, where she plays a pivotal role in the company’s operations. She also serves as the right hand of Ms. Tentler, working alongside her to achieve the company’s mission and vision. Jeanith’s journey is a testament to her strength and resilience, and it serves as an inspiration to others who may be facing their own storms in life.
