Empowering Small and Minority-Owned Businesses to Succeed in International Trade with Bridge To Trade Inc.

Bridge To Trade Inc. is a platform that aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), minority-owned businesses, and handwork businesses in the United States sell their products and services overseas. The company targets all US companies that are looking to generate revenue through international trade due to the challenges they may face in navigating the complexities of international trade.

One of the main barriers to small businesses exporting their goods and services is the lack of trained staff and difficulty in complying with different legislation and receiving or processing payments. Bridge To Trade Inc. aims to help these businesses overcome these obstacles by providing a cost-effective platform for marketing their products in overseas markets.

The company’s founder, Nigora(khon) Sadikova, has a strong background in international trade and digital trade development. She holds a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago, where she worked on a project connecting underdeveloped communities to entrepreneurship and e-commerce through digital trade. The project was selected by the Clinton Global Initiative University and the Social New Venture Challenge at the Rustandy Center for Social Sector Innovation at Chicago Booth.

After graduating, Nigora worked for the World Bank Group in both the Global Business Regulation Team and the Digital Trade Team. With her expertise in the field, Nigorakhon hopes to make the process of cross-border digital trading more simple, affordable, and feasible through the use of efficient automation tools.

In addition to her professional experience, Nigora also has personal experience working on the development of the entrepreneurship environment in her home country of Uzbekistan. She has seen firsthand the impact that providing opportunities and basic entrepreneurship skills can have on socially underrepresented and marginalized communities.

“While directly interacting with socially underrepresented and marginalized communities, I have seen that if we create opportunities and teach basic entrepreneurship skills to them, we can have the potential to change the life of those people dramatically,” the founder said. “Therefore, participation in digital trade offers significant economic benefits, including diversification of export markets and products and lowering the costs of trade in goods and services. Digital trade has also proven to be an effective tool for inclusion. It allows small businesses and those owned by minorities to reach consumers directly, without going through costly intermediaries.”

With Bridge To Trade Inc., Nigora hopes to bring this same sense of empowerment and economic opportunity to businesses in the United States.
