Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) has been awarded the Organizational Achievement Award in the second edition of 2022 Global Excellence Assembly awards. The award recognizes DEWA’s commitment to excellence, sustainability, and innovative policies and projects.
DEWA was evaluated using the Malcolm Baldrige Excellence Framework for Performance Excellence, and was found to have strong leadership practices and a commitment to strategic planning and execution. The organization places a strong emphasis on values such as excellence, stakeholder happiness, good governance, sustainability, and innovation, and has implemented best practice frameworks to guide their processes.
The organization has a robust and systematic process for strategic planning, with a focus on long-term, medium-term, and short-term horizons and incorporating input from strategic intelligence, communication, and innovation. DEWA also uses a Customer Happiness Framework to focus on building and maintaining sustainable relationships with customers.
DEWA’s focus on continuous learning and improvement was evident in its application, with a range of initiatives implemented to promote innovation and knowledge sharing across the organization. The organization’s efforts to consolidate economic, social, and environmental aspects have resulted in a cumulative efficiency improvement of 37.63% and a reduction of 73 million tons of CO2 emissions.
The second edition of the awards received 988 entries from organizations and individuals around the world, with 107 applicants shortlisted and 5 in the Organizational Achievement category.
DEWA emerged as the sole winner, scoring 94% in its application, demonstrating its dedication to best practices in leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, measurement, analysis, knowledge management, and workforce focus.
