Corporate Bro or Ross Pomerantz. Well, it depends on who you ask. He goes by both, but in all aspects of his life, Pomerantz is an animated character. A current Stanford MBA student and former minor league baseball player, Pomerantz has a unique story. He found a way to not only turn his life into a global performance, but a comedic one. If you’re a working class American stuck in a thankless nine-to-five job, then Corporate Bro, Pomerantz’s most famous persona, might be just what you need.
A well-educated and versatile student of his trade, Pomerantz isn’t just a salesman for show. He is also a salesman in real life and has spent the better part of post-baseball career working in tech sales in Silicon Valley. From cold calls to sales meetings, he has felt the chaos and frustration of working a corporate job firsthand. But it was in 2014, while working for the tech giant Oracle, that Ross had his big lightbulb moment. He realized how nobody talked about the absurdity of working in the world of sales. That led Pomerantz to turn his knowledge of the industry into a comedic character: Corporate Bro was born.
As a natural born salesman, Pomerantz didn’t have to look far for his content. His career was already a roller coaster of emotions peppered with surprise events and hilarious characters.
He started it on Vine. The popular 6-second video platform was a prime place for a start-up comedian to build his brand and his name, and Pomerantz, as Corporate Bro, did just that. But after a quick bout of fame in 2015, it was clear that Vine platform was heading downhill. He realized his strategy had to shift dramatically. Pomerantz brought together a team to capitalize on the media opportunity and built a rigorous creative process. Joining him was his brother, Win, Oracle coworker, Matt McDonald and Zenefits sales-guy, Ben Gould. Weekend after weekend dedicated entirely to their writing and production, Corporate Bro truly came to life. Pomerantz and co. began to make a name for themselves outside of Vine, on the international levels of YouTube and Instagram. Their hard work, and their persistence to delivering content every single week has finally started to pay off in enormous ways.
Today, Corporate Bro has over one hundred and thirty thousand followers on Instagram, and shares videos on the platform that accrue upwards of 70,000 views per post. And these are real people! The average working Joe’s trapped in corporate America all wants to see Corporate Bro succeed because, while he may feel like a character, people see themselves in him. He feels like a funny piece of them, and a sliver of hope for what comes next.
An authentic icon of the booming tech-world, Pomerantz’s ability to tap into relatable office-place comedy as Corporate Bro, has catapulted him into global recognition.
