Chris Allchin began his entrepreneurial journey full force, investing heavily in a single business and dedicating all his time and energy to its success. However, this approach left him feeling stuck, burnt out, and unable to explore other opportunities. It wasn’t until he began diversifying his efforts and leveraging the power of a strong team that he truly began to flourish in business. “My outlook on business went through some pretty drastic changes,” he shares. Today, Allchin manages six companies and is on the hunt for more, all thanks to his revised approach to business management.
Through his many years of experience as a businessman, Allchin has learned valuable lessons and strategies for entrepreneurial success. Here, he draws from these experiences to share four essential tips for succeeding in business.
Embrace Authenticity
Allchin values authenticity above all and considers it a major player in his success. “Being authentic helps you to find the right people to bring into your business,” he explains. He emphasizes the importance of aligning one’s actions with the person they aspire to be. “We picture this healthy, fit person killing it in business, but if you aren’t taking the steps to live that life, it’s just a fantasy.”
Since committing to living authentically a year and a half ago, Allchin has noticed significant positive changes in his life and business. “It’s almost a tangible effect. When you start really, truly living how you say you want to live, the doors just open.”
Find and Empower the Right People
Allchin’s second key to success is surrounding yourself with talented individuals who help drive your vision forward. “You need to look for people to have in your corner in all aspects of life, but the number one thing in business is hiring people smarter than you,” he advises. He acknowledges that his past tendency to hire less capable individuals hindered his business growth. “Before my approach to business shifted, everyone who worked for me was not as smart as me, and people like that just validate you, even if you’re wrong. Really, how are you learning from anybody doing that?”
Assembling a strong team of trusted players is essential for business, but this means you’ll have to be extra picky in the hiring process. Allchin highlights the importance of hiring the right people, letting go, and trusting your team. “If you want to scale, you need A+ players who love the company and your mission,” he advises
Cultivate Discipline
Discipline is another crucial element in Allchin’s success strategy. “I wake up every day at 5 AM, hit the gym, and follow a strict routine,” he says. For Allchin, discipline isn’t about motivation; it’s about consistently doing what needs to be done, regardless of how you feel. “Doing the things you don’t want to do as though you love it is a real key to success. It reflects not just in your body and mind, but in your business as well.”
He addresses the misconception that success can be achieved without discipline. “Sure, you can hedge your bets on the minority who get lucky, but the majority of successful people are disciplined. They plan in advance with purpose, break down their goals, and get up early.”
Practice Gratitude
Gratitude plays a pivotal role in Allchin’s daily routine. “I journal three things I’m grateful for every morning,” he shares. This simple practice has had a profound impact on his mindset. “Finding happiness in the small things is crucial because we get so caught up in waiting for the big things, like the Lamborghini or the house. When I hit those goals, there was no peace in my life. Now, I’m able to be present and enjoy what I have very single day”
He believes that gratitude can transform your outlook on life. “When you’re in gratitude, it’s difficult to be angry. You can’t be angry while being grateful. Listing three things you’re grateful for can put a smile on your face and start your day off right.”
Progress Over Perfection
Chris Allchin’s advice illustrates that progress, not perfection, is the key to moving forward. By embracing authenticity, empowering the right people, cultivating discipline, and practicing gratitude, he has been able to overcome significant obstacles and achieve remarkable success. His story serves as a powerful reminder that with the right mindset and strategies, anyone can turn their challenges into triumphs.
