Attorney Kathleen Martinez Goes Viral On Instagram

Immigration attorney Kathleen Martinez has gained notoriety on Instagram for her sharp legal skills and sense of humor. A blonde, sassy, pink-loving, and whip-smart woman, she had to fight for respect and basic human decency in the workplace since she started working, often facing condescending bosses. Her viral videos give viewers tips about life and immigration in a witty way from one sassy woman who knows how it feels to be underestimated by male bosses.

While Martinez’s videos are funny and lighthearted, they also strike a chord with many women. One of her most viral clips explains her journey as an attorney and how her bosses inadvertently encouraged her to start her own firm.

‘I worked so hard to become a lawyer,” reads a caption in one of Martinez’s viral Instagram posts. “Unfortunately, I worked for men who treated me poorly for being “too girly” and not fitting in with the culture. So I started my own girly law firm and never looked back. I bought a pink billboard with my face on it two minutes from his house.”

“This is dope!” one woman replied. “When there’s no seat at the table, go make another one to sit at.” “I’m a student doc who aspires to be as badass as you in the healthcare field,” shared another fan. Sprinkled in the congratulatory messages were cheeky comments praising her for her audacity and others asking to work with her on anything because her confidence is inspirational.

A fashion lover and appreciator of all that’s beautiful to her core, Martinez knew she wanted to be extraordinary at an early age. That desire and her competitive nature led her to law school at Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego and a short stint at an oil company in San Antonio. After marrying her husband five years ago, Martinez and her family moved to Portland, Oregon. That’s where she conceived her all-pink law firm.

Martinez’s husband, Alejandro, was another inspiration for her firm. A Mexican who came to the US at 10, Alejandro’s personal story opened Martinez’s eyes to the plight of immigrants and gave her a purpose she’s now glad she stumbled on. Her days revolve around educating immigrants on their rights, helping them win their cases, and creating inspirational content for her brand. And, of course, pink features prominently at her firm and on her social platforms.

“Ever since I started posting content of my firm and us wearing pink, I did not expect the massive viral reaction from other legal professionals as well as female professionals in general,” she shared in an interview with People Magazine. Martinez adds that she has received over 3000 requests for work from women who feel degraded in their current positions. “That’s how I felt working for male attorneys who made me feel like I wasn’t good enough or wasn’t smart enough, or I needed to be pretty or smart, feminine or smart, like you couldn’t be both.”

Martinez’s journey, mission, and inspiring life have attracted fans and followers, who eagerly await new content daily. Her Instagram page has already amassed over 123K fans, and these numbers are multiplying. Going by the number of fans on her other platforms, it won’t be long before the pink party ignites on Instagram!
