Arrowyn Ambrose: A Creative Force in the World of Trauma-Informed Healing

Arrowyn Ambrose is taking the lead in Lumos Transforms‘ recovery work, paving the way for a new era of trauma-informed healing through her boundless creativity and innovative approaches. Arrowyn’s philosophy is simple but powerful: true change happens when individuals feel safe. To this end, Lumos Transforms works tirelessly to unlock the inner potential of its clients, empowering them to heal and grow in a safe and nurturing environment. Through her unwavering commitment to inner safety, Arrowyn is paving the way for a brighter future where trauma-informed healing is accessible to all.

“To achieve our greatest potential, we must change. Yet change is terrifying because we find security in the familiar—even when it no longer serves us. Most people attempt change by searching for safety through controlling their external environment, which is often unstable. Lumos approaches change by anchoring to inner safety—the most reliable source of safety we can depend on, an oasis we can always return to when we face adversity,” she shared.

Arrowyn is a true jack-of-all-trades at Lumos Transforms, donning various hats, including Client Relations, Curriculum Development, Certification Trainer, and Community Programs Coordinator. Together with Nkem Ndefo, Arrowyn co-created The Resilience Toolkit for Recovery, addressing the shortcomings of conventional recovery methods. This innovative program offers a safe space for individuals to navigate their healing journey, focusing on embodiment, trauma-informed awareness, and social and racial justice. By addressing the underlying issues behind addiction, The Resilience Toolkit transforms the recovery process into a powerful tool for personal growth and transformation.

Arrowyn exudes a contagious enthusiasm for revolutionizing the world of recovery. Furthermore, she possesses a wealth of practical experience gained from working in diverse fields such as prisons, social justice organizations, and schools.

While support, education, and awareness of the transformative potential of psychedelics and peak healing experiences are essential, she also advocates for a cautious and gradual approach. According to her, the use of psychedelics should only be considered when supported by small incremental steps before and after the experience.

She understands that true change and growth take time and dedication and that it is crucial to approach healing and recovery with a long-term perspective. In addition, Arrowyn’s outspoken stance on cultural appropriation is a testament to her commitment to ethical practices and respect for diverse cultures, which she brings from her background in dance and theater.

At the forefront of postmodern approaches to recovery, Arrowyn’s boundless curiosity and creativity have propelled her into a realm of innovation. Drawing on her unique perspective as a non-fiction writer and dancer, she explores the intersection of play, storytelling, nourishing movement, and The Toolkit to inspire creativity and facilitate healing. Her passion and expertise continue to inspire those around her and have established her as a leader in the field.

Arrowyn’s innovative and creative approach to trauma-informed healing is making a difference in the lives of many. She is a true force for change, and her work at Lumos Transforms is helping to transform the world in a supportive and sorely needed way. If you’re looking for innovative ways to create a trauma-informed culture, enhance teamwork and collaboration, or improve your own sense of well-being, Arrowyn and the Lumos team are here to help.
