Amy’s Kitchen, the beloved organic food brand, is continually assessing its customers’ needs and rolling out new options to help budget-conscious consumers navigate challenging economic times. The company now offers multipack burritos and family-size portions of its Vegetable Lasagna, Pad Thai, Roasted Poblano Enchilada, Pesto Tortellini, and Cheese Enchilada.
Paul Schiefer, president of Amy’s Kitchen, explained the rationale behind these larger offerings: “We know that inflation has been difficult. It’s raised the cost of food for a lot of people across the country. And we also know that a lot of families are balancing child care with work and life, and they need something that really tastes good, that’s convenient, and feeds the whole family at an affordable price. And our family packs are really intended to do that.”
These bigger portions are designed to bring added value to consumers while maintaining the high quality Amy’s is known for.
Comfort Food for Challenging Times
Among the new family-size offerings is Amy’s Cheese Enchilada, described on the company’s website as “comfort food, Mexican style.” The dish features made-from-scratch organic corn tortillas filled with a blend of cheeses, accented with olives and peppers, and covered in a traditional enchilada sauce.
This move toward more significant portions comes at a time when many Americans are feeling the pinch of rising food costs. Recent reports indicate that some consumers are turning away from fast food due to soaring prices, opting instead for home-cooked meals or independent restaurants.
Amy’s Kitchen’s new family-size options aim to bridge the gap between convenience and affordability, providing a middle ground for families seeking quality meals without the high cost of dining out.
“We take immense pride in bringing families, whether born or chosen, together around the table and believe this new line will make it even easier,” Fred Scarpulla, Amy’s Kitchen’s chief culinary officer, said in a press release. “The launch of Family Size Entrées showcases our commitment to offering convenient meal solutions for families, as we understand the challenges of preparing homemade meals day in and day out.”
What Consumers Are Saying About Amy’s Kitchen Family Packs
By adapting to consumer needs while staying true to its core values, Amy’s Kitchen continues to carve out a unique space in the food industry — and hungry fans are more than appreciative.
“We love cooking but sometimes we just need quick, easy meals on the go,” said plants & dat on TikTok. “We trust Amy’s because we know their products are organic, non-GMO and taste delicious. They now have burrito multi packs so you can feed the entire family with ease.”
Amy’s Family Size Frozen Roasted Poblano Enchilada has been getting rave reviews, too. “I got the Amy’s Kitchen Roasted Poblano Enchilada Family Size Meal a few days ago, and my family loved it!! It is made with organic corn tortillas and vegetables,” a reviewer named Karah posted on target.com. “It was a quick meal, just pop in the microwave for ten minutes and there you have a great meal for the family!! I loved this meal and I am sure you will too! I highly recommend this awesome dinner to everyone!!”
Many Americans are reassessing their food choices due to economic pressures, and Amy’s Kitchen’s new family-size options offer a promising solution. As the company continues to grow and adapt, it seems poised to remain a favorite among those seeking organic, sustainable, and now more affordable meal options.
“By kind of building these bigger pack sizes, we’re able to bring new value to our consumers and really make Amy’s work as a lunch or dinner solution for an entire family,” Schiefer reiterates. “[It’s also] a delicious meal the whole family will eat.”
Co-founder Andy Berliner said the very foundation of Amy’s was to create an easy way for people to eat well.
“People aren’t inclined to eat well if it doesn’t taste very good. So I think we pioneered the whole frozen food industry by making really great tasting food,” Andy Berliner said in an interview.
“Our consumers are our family. Somehow when they eat our food they feel the love and the attention and the care we put into this little box,” co-founder Rachel Berliner added.
A Legacy of Organic, Vegetarian Options
Established in 1987 by the Berliners, Amy’s Kitchen has always prioritized organic ingredients and vegetarian options. This commitment stems from the founders’ personal values. Over the years, the company has grown significantly, now producing approximately 1 million meals per day and available in over 50,000 retail locations across the United States.
Amy’s Kitchen’s dedication to sustainability extends beyond its product offerings. It is actively working to transition all of its production facilities to 100% renewable electricity by 2030. Additionally, the company is upgrading refrigeration systems to reduce carbon emissions and striving to make all packaging either compostable or recyclable.
More Exciting Developments for Amy’s Kitchen
Amy’s Margherita Pizza was named the top frozen pizza in an article on the Study Finds research website thanks to its organic ingredients, taste, low sugar, and 15 grams of protein. Its Organic Medium Tomato Salsa snagged Best Salsa on Good Housekeeping‘s 2024 Best Snack Awards list.
Schiefer envisions continued growth for Amy’s Kitchen over the next decade. He emphasized the potential to reach more households and increase organic agriculture acreage.
Amy’s Kitchen’s commitment to organic, vegetarian options has positioned it well in the market. With increasing consumer interest in plant-based diets and sustainable food choices, the company’s long-standing principles align with modern trends. Schiefer noted that using plant-based proteins instead of animal proteins results in significant carbon reductions — for example, an Amy’s veggie burger has only 10% of the carbon footprint of a traditional meat-based burger.
