These domes, which were a significant part of the local landscape, inspired young Steven with their technological and strategic importance. Today, only one Ray Dome remains, now utilized by the FAA for aviation-related tasks such as measuring distance, speed, and IFF identification.
Steven’s fascination with technology was ignited by this historical setting, leading him to pursue an education in electronics. He graduated in 1979 from the Bedford Education Center, where he received two years of formal training in electronics.
This foundation was the first step towards his ambitious goal of working on radar systems and serving in the United States Navy as an advanced lab technician and instructor. These dreams were not just career aspirations but a continuation of the legacy of vigilance and technological mastery he grew up admiring.
Furthering his education, Steven graduated from Avery University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. His commitment to medical sciences was further solidified with a degree from the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Additionally, Steven earned a designation as a Medical Laboratory Technician from Wytheville Community College, also recognized by the ASCP. This unique blend of electronics and medical technology expertise highlights Steven’s versatility and dedication to both fields.
