Experience the World of Adventurous Pursuits

Mystery novels have always been one of the most popular genres in the world. Enchanted by the amateur sleuths, nerve-racking twists, and spooky plots, mystery novels fade time and surroundings for the reader. The curiosity it generates, the imagination drive that it stimulates, and the quest for hint findings that one begins to undertake to find “who did it” before the story ends, are the factors that fascinate people.

Mysteries also serve to appease our senses of justice and fairness as we know that the story would end by tieing the loose knots and balancing the scales. Add a pinch of ancient spells and myths, and you have the perfect recipe for an unputdownable historic mystery tale that you will enjoy to the last word. When one gets down to purchasing mystery novels, there are many choices, more than the types of combinations that mystery makes with other genres, penned down by the finest. These all take you to the land of pursuits and adventures that are enticing and engaging. One such hot pursuit that we discuss here is ‘The Clemente Spell’ written down by John DeFelice, which is a treat for every mystery thriller lover. If you have been waiting for an engrossing read, here is a page-turner for you.

The Clemente Spell is an enticing mix of mystery, magic, and thrill that takes you on an incredibly adventurous journey whereby you uncover the secrets of a family and witness the battle a little child takes upon him to win! It is a story of perseverance and resilience of a young child who continued to fight adversities thrust on him by destiny to rise as a star of his dream profession.

It begins with John being born to parents who consider him an evil being on the basis of his being left-handed. They began trying any method they could find to make him use his right hand, resulting in the forming of a disability in the later years of his life. The neglect of his parents and their separation made him turn to develop an interest in other things, of which baseball topped the list. He found solace in it and aspired to be one day a professional baseball player. However, what he didn’t know and came to find out while eavesdropping on his family was of a spell that had overtaken the city. Not given much chance or choice by fate, before he could even process the information, the spell overtook him, sending him back in time and away from his dreams.

There is so much that this exceptional novel by John DeFelice offers. The resolve and mind over matter of the little boy as he grows and navigates through life leave you amazed. The novel has its share of good and bad moments, beginning from John’s birth to his disability and later life. There is no instance when you feel that the novel is going off the track as other novels do. The way the child emerges as the best baseball player despite being stuck in an inescapable situation is truly inspiring. You will also find a lot about the game itself and how it is different from the 60s today.

The Clemente Spell reveals to you its secret character as the tale unfolds, Roberto Clemente, to whom John credits his success. John DeFelice has penned down an incredible mystery novel that each mystery enthusiast would enjoy. It is an inspiring story that you can easily find on Amazon. To get your dose of an emotional read, mystery, historical non-fiction, and so much more, purchase now The Clemente Spell.

John DeFelice grew up under abnormal circumstances. He was born a left-handed child, and because of this, his parents thought him to be an evil being. He always felt neglected as a child. His parents did everything humanly possible to make him right-handed, and this caused him to develop a disability later in life.

John developed a passion for baseball after a “spell” took over his city. He started working towards playing for a team. His parents got separated, but this did not deter him. After eavesdropping on his family’s conversation on one fateful day, the “spell” took over him, and he went back in time to his great-grandparents’ days. He learned about their history and how his family members came to be. He also discovered that as a result of some horrible secrets, his family was cursed.

The Clemente Spell: A Novel by John DeFelice is an interesting work of mystery and historical non-fiction. There are so many things to love about this book. It is about what a little boy faced while growing up and how he was able to navigate through life. The plot of this novel is very interesting, and the development of it was incredible. From John’s condition at birth to his disability and later to his love for baseball made the novel much more beautiful. I love how the author was able to navigate through everything that life threw at him positively. As a child, whenever he felt neglected, he always played in the backyard with his toys. I like the fact that the novel didn’t go off-point as most other stories do. I also loved the emotional aspects of this book. It made me cry and also laugh at some point. I cried when I learned about what John went through as a child. I was so happy when God came through for him through his prayers and also how Roberto Clemente influenced him to aspire to be the best baseball player. I learned about baseball back in the 60s and how it was played then. I also learned a lot of life lessons from John. This novel is well written and very interesting; it kept me glued from the beginning to the end.

However, I found a host of errors in this book, and because of this solitary point, I would be deducting a star from my rating. Apart from this, I did not dislike anything else about this book. Therefore, I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars. This book was not professionally edited. That’s why I deducted a star from my rating. I did not also give it a lower rating because I enjoyed this book so much. I learned so much about the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, and how baseball was played each year.

I recommend this book to lovers of mystery and historical non-fiction. This book is also recommended to people interested in books with biblical passages. This book has some biblical passages. So, if they don’t appeal to you, I would advise that you don’t read this book.
