There are two types of traditional chin straps: 

They are either linear or they have a Y shape. They all work under the same principle – they are all made of a single elastic material and they all wrap around the tip of your chin and you strap them on around the back of your head. The thing to notice is that from the tip of your chin, the band is oriented towards your ear, and at the front of your ear is your jaw joint. This means that all the force, or almost all the force, is directed into your jaw joint. This is problematic because what you want is a force that’s perpendicular to that to rotate your jaw up.

All the force into your jaw joint is just causing discomfort and long-term use can cause damage to your joint. So, it is not a good design, but it’s cheap and easy to make and people buy them. You do have to measure your head to determine your size; this is not one size fits all. This chin strap actually works.

What you do is you measure just above your eyebrow around your head. The cap is made of a three-layer open net mesh: the outer layer of open net, the inner layer of open net, and then in between that is a layer of open weave 100% cotton, so it’s very light and breathable.

The first time you use it, you have to adjust the back strap. The blue band is non-elastic; what this does is it keeps your jaw from lowering. You put it on snugly, and then the elastic band (the white one) provides a little gentle upwards force.

It goes from under your jaw and lifts vertically, so it works with the natural rotation of your jaw, which is partly why it’s so comfortable.

For those of you who like graphs (you can see them on https://dualbandchinstrap.com homepage), the graph shows how the two bands in combination allow the force to be minimized and yet still effective. The jaw Gap axis, at zero when your jaw is closed and on the way when your jaw opens, force is vertical. The force axis is vertical, and what you get is this non-linear force curve, which is due to the combination of the gentle upwards force from the elastic band in combination with the non-elastic band, which only engages when you open your mouth.

So this keeps you with your mouth closed where the force is low. Either of those two innovations separately would provide a superior chin strap to anything on the market, but the combination of the two makes this far and away the effective and comfortable chin strap available.

MobilEyes, a mobile application designed to support the rights and safety of private individuals and promote transparency and accountability in police operations, has set a soft launch date for August 19th. MobilEyes is currently accepting signups for its pre-download list, which offers users early access to the application and includes the first month’s subscription at no cost.

According to MobilEyes founder and CEO Charles Morey, around 13,000 people have now signed up for pre-download. The MobilEyes app allows users to quickly document encounters with law enforcement by live-streaming video to multiple social media networks, ensuring public visibility and accountability. Only the authorized user can end a live stream, requiring their thumbprint to do so. Its CopWatch tab lists the profiles of all local department officers, with information such as name, badge number, and conduct records, including citations for both good and bad behavior. 

The MobilEyes app’s Live Lawyer feature allows users to promptly access legal assistance in the event of arrest or rights violations. At the push of the emergency button, they are immediately connected to an attorney, which is part of their constitutional rights.  

According to Morey, MobilEyes also benefits law enforcement through a web-based application, providing police departments and officers with tools to manage and conduct reports, monitor a ratings leaderboard, utilize mental health resources, and run a suicide hotline for officers and veterans confronting depression and suicidal thoughts. By providing accountability for police, they can prevent wrongful conduct litigation, saving billions of dollars in legal costs taken from taxpayer money.
