The New Orleans native spent five years in the Navy as an Aviation Boatswain Mate Equipment at the Norfolk, VA station, where she went on only one combat tour before she enrolled at Paul Mitchell the School Raleigh in 2018 to study cosmetology.

The multicultural licensed cosmetologist thought she would enjoy working every day, but that was far from her reality when she started working. She hated her job and began to think about what she could do to make herself happy. That took her back to her passion for hair and makeup, and she pursued becoming a licensed professional.

Barash, who grew up with creative hobbies such as painting and working with wood, jumped at the chance. He got a job. And after a year of painting Toms shoes, he enjoyed it so much that he decided to start his own business offering similar products.

Kevin Parallax Talks About His Latest Release and Progressive Metal Concepts

The music industry is rife with talented individuals who consistently push the boundaries of modern music and make it their own through unique never before heard concepts. Kevin Parallax is one such individual, bringing forth his sheer artistry in full display with every groundbreaking release. This time, he talks about his latest projects and his creative process.

Kevin Parallax is an esteemed songwriter, composer, producer, and guitarist hailing from Mumbai, India. Currently based in Los Angeles, California, he has built a positive reputation in the music industry with his immense talents garnering a lot of buzz with every new release. The renowned artist has honed his craft to the best of his abilities since the inception of his career, proving that he is an extraordinary individual in the rising to look out for.

Kevin Parallax has an intuitive creative process that usually begins with him recording ideas to bring it all down into a session. He then proceeds towards programming a drum track over it after dialing in the guitar tone.

“The part that I would normally spend the most time on is dialing the guitar tone, I like to strike a balance between what sounds good to my raw ears and what preferably would sit well in the mix. The rest of the song sometimes flows naturally, and sometimes it’s just about trying multiple different variations of a previously written riff. Once finalized with a guitar track, I send it over to my drummer to track live drums on it followed by the bassist who would later track the bass, mix and master the song,” shared the rising star.

His latest release, Perplexing Emotions took several months to happen due to self-invented hurdles that he created for himself when it came to stitching up the riffs together.

“No matter how many contrasting parts I wrote, I kept hitting roadblocks and had to abandon many riffs in the process,” explained Kevin. “After a certain point, I realized that I was trying to keep up with an unrealistic expectation of how the song should be because of how good of a start I got off to. I allowed myself to disregard the restriction I set upon myself, which brought forth a complete product. I named it Perplexing Emotions, with the title itself explaining how stitching up all the riffs, riffs that were a product of my emotions, was a puzzle to me.”

After Kevin Parallax laid down the guitar parts, Rahul Hariharan from Bhayanak Maut proceeded with recording drums over the track followed by Ashwin Shriyan, an ex-band member of Demonic Resurrection, who later recorded the bass parts, partially layered the song with synth work, mixed, and mastered it.

“I also had programmed a drum track with sample packs while I was writing the guitar parts to know if it would suit the composition, which later was brought to life by Rahul who also added and brought his character in the process,” said Kevin.

Overall, Perplexing Emotions was a resounding success, and Kevin Parallax hopes to follow it up with several more successful projects down the line.The renowned progressive metal artist has been working on an EP in collaboration with Mike Semesky, previously of the Haarp Machine and Intervals. The release date of this project will be announced very soon, and it will be an entirely new project where Kevin Parallax adds vocals into the mix.

What’s the most important thing for a company to have when it’s just starting out?

There are a lot of considerations when a company is just starting out. There are many opportunities that come with this journey in an effort to make your startup a success. However, one thing that is often overlooked is the importance of having the right team. With the right team, you’ll be able to make better decisions and ultimately succeed in any endeavor.

How did you get into e-commerce?

I have always been an e-commerce junkie. I remember when my mom was buying a new computer, she told me that she would need to buy a laptop case as well. I then told her about the best cases on a website and how they were so affordable. She got the case and we both saved money on our new purchase. It was such a great feeling to help my mom save money.

I always loved shopping and finding deals, so it was natural for me to get into e-commerce further down the line in college when I wanted to find some affordable leather jackets for me to flex. I started looking at different sites in order to find some good deals but didn’t know where to start or what site would be best for me. I started to look at different websites providing the best quality leather jackets but all of them were between the range of $400-$600.

Then I took the decision of providing the best quality at an affordable price, Where anybody can get a good quality leather jacket without compromising their hard earned money.

How did you find interest in leather jackets?

I found interest in leather jackets when I was younger and wore them to school. It was not until I got older that I realized that leather jackets have a lot of different styles & unique features. They are not only trendy, but also versatile. They can be worn to work or during a casual evening out.

First, the leather jacket is made from a strong and durable material which is why it can be worn for years without showing signs of wear and tear. Second, the jacket has an interesting design which is why it always looks good on anyone who wears it.

What are some of the key factors that go into making a great leather jacket?

Key factors that go into making a great leather jacket include:

  • Material: Whether it is natural or vegetable tanned leather, the type of material will determine how long the jacket will last and how comfortable it is to wear.
  • Craftsmanship: The construction of a leather jacket includes the type of lining and stitching. A high-quality jacket has a lining made from buttery smooth Italian suede and a double stitched hem.
  • Design: The design of a leather jacket can be as simple or complex as you want it to be. Some designs incorporate elements like quilting, metal studs, and zippers. Others have embellishments like embroidery and patches.

The quality of the leather is essential since it determines how good the jacket will look in years to come. The cut and design should be tailored to suit your body type and style. What do you believe are the key aspects of an e-commerce business?

E-commerce is the fastest growing industry in the world. In order to be successful in this field, a business must have a clear idea of what their target audience needs and how they can provide it.

* A strong brand image: An e-commerce company must have a well-known brand image that people recognize and trust.

What are your thoughts on how e-commerce has evolved over the years?

E-commerce has evolved over the years, and it is now a multi-billion dollar industry. It has changed the way people shop, buy, sell, and do business. From buying products on websites to using social media for advertising, e-commerce has rapidly changed the way we live our lives.

I think e-commerce is a great thing because it allows people to shop from anywhere and at any time. I also think that the evolution of e-commerce is due to how it’s been able to adapt with changing technology.

What have been your biggest successes and failures as a CEO so far?

This is a question that I cannot answer. I am so young and have only been in this position for a short while. It is also difficult to talk about my failures as most of them are still ongoing. The successes that I’ve had so far, however, have been many.

As a CEO, it’s important to understand the successes and failures you’ve experienced along your journey. It’s even more important to be able to learn from those experiences and adjust accordingly.

What are some tips for starting a new ecommerce business?

The first step to starting a new ecommerce business is to figure out your niche. You need to know what you are going to sell, whether it’s a physical product or an online service. Once you have determined the product, you need to decide on the pricing strategy. You should also think about how much inventory you will need as well as how much money you want to spend on marketing for your business.

You should also consider what kind of company structure will work best for your business and what type of legal entity that will help protect your assets from liabilities.

Can you share some of the best words of advice you’ve gotten along your journey?

  • Don’t stop learning! The more you learn, the more capable you become and the better chance you have at achieving your goals.
  • Keep improving yourself as a person while constantly honing your skills. This is what will allow you to stick with your career effectively.
  • Don’t let rejection hold you back! It’s always hard, but it doesn’t mean that you can’t do anything else in life that makes sense for you.

How Big is the Gender Pay Gap in Golf and Why?

The LPGA has some of the most talented golfers in the world. Professional golfers like Danielle Kang, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, and Celine Boutier regularly dominate the game and prove that LPGA golfers are a force to be reckoned with. However, the gender pay gap in golf remains one of the largest in all of sports. It’s a gap that boggles the mind, given the LPGA’s talent pool. 

Pay Discrepancy Mystery


The pay gap between LPGA and PGA players is a mystery to many. One report shows that despite female golfers being some of the highest-paid elite athletes in the world, their prize money for major competitions regularly falls behind male golfers by $1 million or more. For example, at the 2021 US Open, the top prize for male golfers was $2.5 million, compared to $1 million for female golfers. The report also found that the pay gap is widening and not getting better. 

Governing bodies from the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of Saint Andrews (R&A) are aware of the pay gap, and have stated they are working to close it. Although, what that entails, exactly, has remained to be seen. 

The Source of the Pay Gap

In debates about the existence of wide pay gaps in sports, many detractors often cite the commercial draw of male sports versus female sports as the reason for pay gaps. Still, in 2020, viewership of the LPGA rose a substantial 20%, compared to a paltry 4% for the PGA tour. This increase emboldens leadership to take grander steps toward closing the pay gap. Unfortunately, there are still hurdles in their way. 

Getting LPGA the same television coverage as PGA play is still a struggle. With a record number of viewers for the LPGA Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions on the Golf Channel, many were hopeful other channels would beef up their coverage of LPGA events. With the truth laid bare that LPGA events can be a huge draw, there stands to be no reason not to give the female golfers their proper dues. 

Golf leadership, such as newly appointed LPGA Tour Commissioner Mollie Marcoux Samaan, are working diligently to raise the profile of LPGA top players and make the various tours a bigger commercial draw. The LPGA recently revealed that they would broadcast ten tournaments in 2022, which brings them up to speed with coverage of PGA tour events. 

What Can Be Done?

About a decade ago, the LPGA tours were losing sponsors left and right. That problem seems to be turning a corner, and today’s tournaments have such high-profile sponsors as Epson, Rolex, and John Deere. Sponsorships are a huge part of elevating any sport, and the higher profile the sponsor is, the better payout competing athletes might receive. 

It was also a decade ago when then LPGA Tour Commissioner Mike Whan began adding events and working towards making LPGA events a vast, international enterprise. His hard work has made strides, but the pay gap still exists and continues to widen. It is also a rarity for the LPGA to have household names at the level of a Tiger Woods or Rory McIlroy. 

So, what steps do the LPGA Tour Commissioner and other golf leadership need to take to close the pay gap and get LPGA athletes the pay they deserve?

1. Go Beyond the Golf Channel

While the planned tournament schedule on the Golf Channel is laudable, it only draws viewers who have already purchased that premium channel. The LPGA needs the major networks, such as NBC, to give their tournaments as much coverage as they do for the PGA — especially given the stark proof that if you air it, people will watch. 

2. Market the LPGA with Online Sportsbooks

As we’ve seen with the NBA, NFL, NHL and other professional sports leagues, online apps like Draft Kings and FanDuel have become widely popular through marketing efforts and have garnered newfound interest from sports bettors all over the world. If the LPGA were to partner with the most popular golf apps as a way to bring more eyes to the tour, they might also see an increase in revenue. 

3. Bring Together the Best from Both Worlds

To bolster viewership and attendance for both PGA and LPGA tours, both organizations should combine forces and host a Ryder Cup-style tournament that showcases the talent from both sides. The best from the PGA and LPGA could then even team up and compete against the best players from Europe. 

4. Mentor Female Golfers 

Closing the pay gap will take cultivating high-profile players. There are many Asian golfers in top positions because of their supportive golf federations. Countries outside the United States foster golf skills in females, pair them with mentors, and give people opportunities to travel and learn the craft. These federations put them on the fast track to being at the top of their game. The more high-profile female golfers, the easier it will be to justify amplifying the conversation about the gender pay gap.

5. Tell Stories & Entertain

Sports fans still love stories. They like to hear about an underdog succeeding against all odds, and they love to get to know players intimately. Getting LPGA players their due pay will take a dash of crafty PR and marketing expertise. 

With a new LPGA Tour Commissioner in place, the sport is entering a moment ripe for change. If the new Commissioner Samaan makes closing the pay gap a priority, and places a laser focus on elevating the LPGA overall, the next five to ten years could see the LPGA become the fairly-paid powerhouse it should have always been.
