2021 has some great news in store for music enthusiasts worldwide. Apart from highly-anticipated album releases, emerging artists, and innovative platforms, internationally renowned label Warner Music Group has recently shaken hands with music streaming giant Spotify.
Headquartered in New York City, Warner Music Group is a multinational entertainment company, widely respected for its top-notch talent scouting and management prowess. Founded in 1958 by Jack L. Warner, the record label has withstood the test of time, staying a step ahead and maintaining a bird’s-eye view since its establishment.
Further securing its top spot, the international powerhouse recently aroused excitement with exciting news. Last April 15, 2021, Warner Music Group welcomed a lucrative and innovative partnership with Spotify, which will launch a new era of collaboration and features within the music industry.
Through the recently inked contract, the leading companies will join hands and develop a series of original podcasts that will center on the music group’s extensive roster of talents. Among these world-class performers are Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Ed Sheeran, Idina Menzel, Charlie Puth, Green Day, Bebe Rexha, Goo Goo Dolls, Icona Pop, Kelly Clarkson, and hundreds more.
According to Warner Music Group, this creative partnership will offer an opportunity for fans to peek into the recording studio and catch a glimpse of their favorite artists and songwriters behind the stage.
The signed contract seems to birth a winning situation for both companies, its represented creatives, and the millions seated in their audience. “We’re excited to take this step forward with Spotify as we strengthen and deepen our existing partnership. Podcasts provide an opportunity to unlock value for artists and songwriters by delivering fresh and unique stories to music to fans across the globe.”
Warner Music Group’s Executive Vice President, Business Development, and Chief Digital Officer Oana Ruxandra states, “We look forward to working with Spotify to experiment and drive growth in podcasting.”
Courtney Holt, the Vice President of Spotify’s Global Studios and Business, echoes the same sentiment. She shares that the streaming giant, like the team at Warner Music Group, is ecstatic about this new partnership and in cultivating the power of podcasts featuring the international label’s numerous artists.
“The most impactful podcasts share with music the key component of storytelling and personal experience. In partnership with Warner Music Group, we look to develop stories leveraging their unique artists and catalog,” she states. “We look forward to helping them leverage the power of podcasting to forge a deeper connection with fans.”
As news of this development circulates social media sites, inciting whoops and cheers from dedicated fans, music enthusiasts may listen to the entertainment company’s recently-launched “BLK in America” podcast.
