Kindred’s Steady Rise: From Major Label Releases to Noteworthy Performances

Few independent artists have built a resume as impressive as Kindred. The Montgomery County, Maryland native, now based in Los Angeles, has carved out a lane for herself in electronic music with a unique fusion of melodic bass, cinematic soundscapes, and unwavering energy. With releases on powerhouse labels like Ultra Records, Subsidia, Proximity, Circus Records, Rude Service, and Arctic Empire, Kindred has established herself as one of the exciting artists in bass music today. Most recently, she kicked off 2025 with a bold new remix—her take on BABYMONSTER’s “Sheesh,” which dropped exclusively on SoundCloud on January 17th.

What makes this remix stand out is its distinct departure from anything Kindred has done before. Known for her signature blend of emotional melodies and heavy-hitting drops, she embraced the challenge of remixing a K-pop track with open arms. “I started with that flute lead in the drop and expanded from there,” she says. “I knew I wanted to make a heavy-hitting bass track, and it’s one of the most experimental songs I’ve ever done.” She also had a blast working on the rap section, incorporating panned car sounds and a sub-bass that pushes the boundaries of her usual sound. It’s an electrifying take on the original and a testament to her ability to innovate while staying true to her style.

But the remix is just one piece of a much larger moment for Kindred. She closed out 2024 with two of the biggest performances of her career: supporting Illenium at Exchange LA on November 22nd and Adventure Club at Nova San Diego on December 6th. Both shows held deep personal significance for her. “Illenium is my favorite DJ and who I look up to the most,” she says. “It was such an honor to play for him.” The show also marked her first time closing a set, which brought new challenges and excitement. “I knew I had to start heavy since I was going on after such an established DJ.”

Her performance with Adventure Club was another milestone. “This was my debut in San Diego, and it felt like a full-circle moment,” she explains. “They were the first DJs I loved when I started listening to EDM.” Sharing the stage with them wasn’t just a career highlight—it was a reminder of how far she’s come in such a short time.

Kindred’s trajectory has been notable. While many independent artists face challenges breaking through, she’s not only released music on some of the biggest labels in bass music but has also secured coveted support slots with industry giants. Her versatility sets her apart, effortlessly moving between melodic anthems and ground-shaking bass tracks. Fans of Illenium, Adventure Club, Haliene, JVNA, Nurko, and Mitis will find plenty to love in her catalog.

As she steps into 2025, Kindred continues to build momentum. With more music on the horizon and her sights set on dream collaborations with Illenium, Ed Sheeran, and Excision, she’s demonstrating that independent artists can thrive alongside the industry’s biggest names. With back-to-back major performances closing out one year and a high-profile remix kicking off the next, she’s positioned for even bigger things ahead.
