Think about network marketing, and you might picture a world of complicated strategies and fleeting successes. Why? Because there’s a lot of confusion and myths floating around. Thanks to a few unscrupulous people, many often don’t take network marketing seriously, seeing it as just a hobby or a scheme that never really pays off. Not Tony de Gouveia. Tony’s not just another network marketer; he’s the guy who looked beyond the myths and saw something more—a real chance to make a difference, not just for himself, but for everyone who joins him in this journey.
“When I started in network marketing, I quickly realized it wasn’t about telling people what to do but showing them,” Tony explains. This was different from the retail industry, where Tony had spent 22 years. “In retail, I was telling people what to do because I had people working for me. But in network marketing, nobody works for you. You’ve got a volunteer army that goes with you to the battlefield.”
Tony’s approach is rooted in what he calls “servant leadership.” It’s a term that might sound old-school, but for Tony, it’s the secret sauce to his success. As he puts it, servant leadership is about putting your team first. It’s about guiding, not dictating. It’s about building a team that trusts and follows you, not because they have to, but because they want to.
“I started developing myself more in the skills levels of not being the superstar in front, not be the guy in the back, but the guy in the middle of the team who knows what’s going on in touch with the team but is leading the direction of the team by influencing all of them in the right direction,” Tony explains. “So more of the Gandhi type of leadership, more of the person who is not creating conflict but creating harmony in the team and moving the team in the direction that he wants to go.”
This philosophy was born from his early challenges in network marketing. Tony recalls, “The first five years were tough. I had to unlearn a lot, especially the top-down leadership style I was used to. It was a humbling experience.” But Tony didn’t just survive those initial years; he thrived. He attributes this to his relentless focus on self-improvement and skill development. “I spent countless hours at seminars, learning from the best. I was determined to master the art of influencing people positively,” Tony reflects.
His efforts paid off. Today, Tony is more than a successful network marketer; he’s a mentor who has helped countless individuals realize their potential. “As a leader, it is so important to understand that it’s not about you. For me, it’s all about identifying the next co-leader in my team and then helping and mentoring them so they can go to the next level, the next tier, the next income level, and assisting them through this process. That’s what sets TUB—’The Ultimate Business’—apart. We’re not just about profits; we’re about empowering people,” Tony asserts.
As Tony De Gouveia continues to lead and inspire, he remains committed to his vision of servant leadership, ensuring that his team not only achieves success but also grows as individuals. No matter how much he makes, it’s not just about the income. Tony’s success proves it’s about the impact you make on people’s lives, and that’s his ultimate mission in network marketing.
